wmpevans
Nice pour of the GBS WT RRSBSmB. A great whiskey which drinks far too easy for a 110 proofer. Another GBS winner!!!

Hop
Opened the OF101 "dusty" that I picked up this week (what else was I gonna do with it set it back on a shelf and look at it?) Color is an amazing dark Amber and the "legs" in the glass are the best I've seen Nose: here is where I became concerned. I'm not picking anything up... After letting it open up for about 5 minutes I moved on to the tasting... First sip: One word "Bland" couldn't pick out a single note. Maybe age has allowed it to mingle to this point? It's not a lack of alcohol because there is a burn just not very pronounced. Again too much time "mingling"? The "chew": decided to try the Kentucky Chew to see if that brought out additional favors/notes and it has brought forward a bit of sweetness along with vanilla and a spicy "burn" on the back of the tongue that lingers well so like the "legs" in the glass it has a long finish in the mouth Mouthfeel: I know some say smooth isn't a good word to describe bourbon although it's often used but smooth/oily/creamy is what comes to mind here. Final Thoughts: While at first I was concerned with the lack of nose and initial taste either the bourbon or I am warming up nicely as we hit the 2/3 point of a two finger pour in a Double OF glass and I think it's a bit of both. This is my first pour of the evening so I'm not jaded by another pour I think it's just taking this one a bit to open up after being in the bottle for somewhere around 30 years... These are of course my opinions and your own tastes may vary widely! Enjoy!

fozzy71
Revisiting Stagg Jr Batch 1 and Bookers 2014-07 when this happened. ........ What do you pour when you can't decide which of the 12 open bottles/vattings to pour next cuz what you just drank was so amazing? Obv time to take a pour or two from your nearly full #lastpours decanter. Edited July 24, 2015 by fozzy71

Golzee
Had three 86ers tonight, OF 86 (not bad, 100 is drunk candy), OGD 86 (decent, but no 114), and JBB (was a stepping stone, and still remains a solid staple). I wonder why I don't reach for JBB more often. It may be the quintessential bourbon...may be the Budweiser of bourbon. Is it the best...no. But, if I could only take one bourbon on a 3 hour tour, it would be JBB.
flahute
A lot of talk about fruit flies lately........not happy to see it happening to others, but also glad it's just not me! I've been protecting my bourbon from those little fu***rs for the past 2 weeks or so. It's uncanny how automatic it is to have a glass sitting out collecting floaters. I've been fishing them out with a spoon except for the one time there was three in there and it was EW White label so I didn't feel bad about dumping it out. Now I keep a closer eye on the glass. My palate is better than last night, but it's still a bit off, so I'm doing the only thing you can do which is to drink OGDBIB and OGD114. The 114 is just amazing as always. Ohhhhh.....how I want to try this unchill filtered at cask strength.

Now I keep a closer eye on the glass.that happened to me a few weeks ago too, but with ECBP and I def wasn't pouring that out, but I had it in a rocks glass so it was easy to fish them out. so I should've remembered when I was drinking out the deck while grilling that this would happen again. I'll have to remember to put a napkin over the glass or something if I'm drinking outside again!
Harry in WashDC
They be protein plus pickled. And, they are small. Why bother?VOB BIB today after weeding and cleaning as a reward. beasled
Though it is summer and almost the end of July, I am of course in the UK and today has been cold, wet and miserable. fishnbowljoe
My palate has seemed to me, to be a bit "off" lately. Nothing has been tasting quite as good as I think it should. It's going a little better tonight though. Celebrating the end of the week with a couple of pours of FRSB. Ahhhhhhhhhhh…...:yum:Cheers! fozzy71
Enjoying a vatting of 60% EC12 & 40% Larceny.... Very tasty! That sounds tasty. I did a lot of vatting with EC12 in the past but lately I have been using OGD114 instead since it is (was I should say) cheaper. I should pull up the one EC12 I have and give that a try soon.
