Nabbed a bottle of the JD SB Barrel Proof yesterday.

I don't usually get that strong banana note that many people complain of with standard Jack, but this was a Banana-Bomb!

I grabbed a bottle of Orphan Barrel Barterhouse 20 year and a bottle of Four Roses SB. Also came across an old dusty bottle of Wild Turkey Kentucky Legend but didn't pull plug on it yet. At 145 Canadian it's a bit pricie for me...what do you guys think? Any experience with the WT?[h=1][/h]

I picked up a RHF and a couple of Smooth Ambler Old Scout 8 store selections. Didn't think much of the Old Scout on the first taste but after a couple of weeks of being opened "WOW" it's a great whiskey.

I got a gift of Booker's a couple of weeks ago. 2015-1 with Booker on it. Then I said, oh what the crap, and began searching for #2 with Dot on it, then the center cut and oven buster. I did end up getting all of them. I see tht there is another one that just came out. Waiting for it to find it's way to Texas.

I grabbed 2-PS BT's and 2-PS OWA's over the weekend.

I've picked up a few PS OWA's over the last two or three months. I never thought I'd say this, but I now have almost as many OWA's as Weller 12's. :crazy: What can I say? Tastes change.

Grabbed a High West American Prairie.

I was never really impressed with this bourbon, I tried it several times at Restaurants over the past couple of years. Biggest gripe was the mouth feel. Felt thin, watery . . . and I felt that transferred to the palate and into the finish. Just wasn't impressive for a $30+ bottle.

Went to a dinner with David Perkins locally and HWAP was the first pour of the night. I was ready to be underwhelmed. I was surprised. The mouth feel was much improved and I felt it transferred nicely into a spicier fuller palate and finish. I asked David about it and he confirmed the newer batches have been changed, and in my opinion for the better. I'll check back in after I open this up and confirm my thoughts, but if you've tried this in the past and felt like I it was underwhelming, you may want to check on it again. (Per David Perkins, the newer batches don't have the bird on them, they have an antelope.)

Driving through Massachusetts and Rhode Island, I came across some Elmer T. Lee at a few different stores. $30 at one store and $40 at the other. It's one of my favorites, and I haven't seen it for under $80 in a few years. I bought it all. 8 bottles in total. :cool: Now I just have to figure out how to get it home to Texas. :bigeyes:

Was able to score a bottle of 2015 ORVW for $70. Asked the store manager if he ever tried it. He said, nope, only had the 15yr, etc...

So we cracked it open and had a pour.

The 2014 ORVW was my first ever taste of Old Rip. I loved it and still do. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with the 2015. I hoping some time to open up with do it good but loved the 2014 right out of the gate.
