Had to restock the daily drinkers plus a couple of others. Between yesterday and today I've picked up 2 Blantons for $47 each, 2 Stagg Jr's for $45 each. 1 Woodford Reserve Derby 1ltr for $37, 1 4R small batch for $24, WSR for $17 and a Barrel Bourbon batch #2 for $80.

That should take care of me for a few weeks

I wish we could get prices like that around Michigan.

Best of luck in the next couple weeks ☺

I'm lucky that the retailer knowing which bottles are being hawked by flippers only puts out one or two at a time but leaves the shelf price up. It gives everyone a shot at occasionally getting some of the scarcer bottles like ETL, W12, etc. His prices are also some of the best around. He still sells baby Saz for $23 when he gets an allocation

'New' batches of WTRB are out and have a $3 off coupon on the neck.  That, combined with the fact that it's on sale, left me no choice in the matter. :D

now that's a retailer I'd happily give all my money to in exchange for bourbon.

Agreed.

Apparently I missed out on the state's shipment of ETL.  Would love to try some sometime.  I saw a few bottles at a liquor store out in CA, but they wanted $100 per bottle...uh no.

Found a bottle of this today, I guess I missed three batches: Elijah Craig 12 Yr. Old Barrel Proof (Batch 10) (138.8 Proof) . Still in that Haz Mat area.

awesome, let us know what you think of it.  I saw you posted that you heard it was in Chicago, made me wonder if you were able to get your hands on it!  I only checked Binny's and one other spot, didn't want to go all out hunt on this one.

Shouldn't this be a Spring thread now?

I would think so.  Perhaps one of us should endeavor to start such a thread?

As Squire once pointed out, it is 114 proof so will have some alcohol bloom on opening.  SO, be careful about that heat.  When I drink it neat, I let it sit at least five or so minutes before sipping.  Make the first sip light.  When I add water, I add just enough to take the proof down to about 105 - floral, spicy, and long finish.  (ASIDE: to 2 oz. of OGD114, add 0.2 oz. (or about 1.2 teaspoons) of water). It is one of about six labels I make sure I keep multiples of just in case . . .

Indeed, I was wondering what I should have tonight, and my mouth just started watering.  Thank you.

I'm a big fan of OGD.  I think it's a solid, solid bourbon  Once the bottles down a bit, I find I prefer to drink it neat.

Thanks for the heads-up, I appreciate it ! I'm a big fan of high proof bourbon, I always drink it neat (or with a few drops of water to open it). As soon as i got it, i let you know guys my thoughts about it.

Having sufficient OGD 114 on hand (in spite of sipping some last night - thanks Masset for the nudge - today I replenished the OGD bonded.  Sometimes I'm just too lazy to carry bourbon AND water to a chair.

Harry, I have a solution.  Keep a bottle of water in the trash can next to the OGD 114.  You know that 114 lowered to 105 tastes just a little better than the bonded.

Hey! Just realized the TV room backs up to a bathroom.  I wonder if a small waterline . . .

Purchased a CEHT SmB and a SiB, both at auction, last weekend for a great price (because they are stupidly expensive here in Europe for some reason) . They turned up today, broken, in a CEHT soaked box (which smelled terrific by the way, even the delivery guy said so), so they had to be returned as damaged goods. So I'm back to still not having tried either.
