The only time I've seen Blanton's in my town was at a liquor store last Friday.  $350.  No thanks.

What town is this?

Tucson, AZ.  I've never seen it anywhere but this liquor store.  They have a lot of bourbon I've never seen anywhere else (such as EC Barrel Proof and EC 18), but those were both over $300 as well.

I don’t say this lightly, but due to your location have you considered going to the dark side?

I'm just making do with what I can find here.  I'm sure I would appreciate Blanton's, and there are plenty of bourbon's I would love to try.  But I sincerely doubt I would find that the value is there for me.  There are plenty of $40 bourbons I love.  I did get a Hancock's Presidential Reserve a few month or so ago and it's a nice bourbon, but there are others I prefer for the price.  The consumer in me who is interested enough in bourbon to frequent bourbon websites wants to try everything, but my wallet does not agree!

Bourbonfanatic was in phoenix and ended up finding a bunch of stuff after a challenging start. May be time for a road trip to texas

I'm in the Arizona Bourbon Society facebook group (non trading bourbon group) and I'm jealous of the stuff they get up in Phoenix compared to Tucson.  The only stores I've found in Tucson that do any barrel picks is Total Wine and BevMo, and with them you never know who is doing the picking!

I’m also in Florida...Ocala. This is the 8 year, he said its tough to find.

Looks like its  he commanders select 8yr. I checked 4 sites and tthey all were very expensive like your guy said. I cant imagine paying that much for anything. Seems a little gimmicky like the Abraham Lincoln bourbon with a cork made from a tree on “his farm”. Or the George Patton  bourbon. Both ridiculously overpriced and both from Boundaty Oak.

It seems to be sourced whiskey (likely MGP) from a new distillery started by ex-Army special forces veterans who served in 9/11.

Mystery Whiskey!    ...But, it MUST be good!    Just look at the price, right?  ;)

It's just great marketing.  There was probably more cost in the development of the label and packaging than in the purchase of the sourced bourbon.  It's worth what someone wants to pay for it but that has nothing to do with quality, value or taste.

No offense intended but no one served in 9/11, this bottle irks me it hits too close to home and I have no interest in owning any portion of WTC and I certainly don't want to drink from a bottle crafted from it's remnants. I respect the servicemen who created the brand and their service but that's about it for me on this one.

Those who were in the Pentagon at the time might disagree. But I understand your feelings in regards to the WTC for any family or friends lost there.

I have no interest in this bottle and it seems to be horrifically overpriced, the claim isn’t about “served in 9/11”. The reference is to a US special forces group that rode horses and was deployed to fight the Taliban and al Qaeda in some of the initial US responses after 9/11. This part is 100% true. Some of you also may have seen a movie that was made about this group which starred Chris Hemsworth.

Again, not saying I support the pricing of the bottle in question or that I have any knowledge of the juice being good or not, and I like to bash shady NDPs as much as anyone, but this is a real thing being recognized by this brand and I do fully respect this fairly unique piece of US military history.

That was my fault.  I believe they served in Afghanistan after 9/11.

Like I said no offense intended. I got what you meant, this product just irks me for the reasons I mentioned.

Stopped in a store tonight that looks like it was freshly remodeled with new owners. Had a good selection (Blantons, baby Saz, CEHTSmB, ER10, WSR, etc.). Everything was about $5 to $10 overpriced so wasn't too terrible but nothing I really needed for the price. The only one way over priced was Stagg Jr. for $75. He had a TON of WSR for $24 and some 1.75s as well. I grabbed a cola from the case and made a bit of small talk and I asked him about the Weller and if he got any OWA. He said no, because "Weller is going out of business". I told him I didn't there was any danger of that happening and he told me that was why he was stockpiling it..because he wouldn't be able to get it any longer. He showed me the back room and he had probably 20 cases of it stacked up. Huh!?!?

This would pretty much explain everything. But how would that work exactly?

If that bottle of Pappy you chased down for years doesn’t taste as good as the hype, throw one of these in and supercharge into Pappiez!!
