jwperry
The flavors don't equal the proof or price when comparing it to whiskey. This will be replaced and extras will be bunkered.
jwperry
How close are the '04 & '05 in flavor? Went hunting today and found the '05 in a few places, but no more '04. I want more than a 1oz pour of this so bad, but must ration...

Prefer the 2005 over the 2004 as well although as you note they are fairly similar. So far I like 2005 over the new 2007 too but that needs more investigation! tanstaafl2
Yeah, me too! But then I saw it there with those big puppy dog rum brown eyes and I couldn't pass it by... Edited June 26, 2019 by tanstaafl2
LCWoody
I opened up my RR 14y, This is a very good Rum. I’m not good at describing flavors, but after a sip of this Rum, (which is very good) it lingers for about 30 minutes in your mouth and has a wow factor. And at 51.9 proof it’s soft, and easy, easy, easy to drink. Did I mention, It’s very good.

I’m due for a Hattiesburg jaunt, hopefully he’s got a few left. Enjoy! (Old pic attached)

jshleffar
Some probitas while cooking and some 16 year KL Hamden. Delicious night.
Marekv8
This one reminds me of several Louisiana based white rums-- tasty and raw (in a good way), but lacking the "flora & funka" of the other cane juice Clairins.

Fingers crossed!

Here are a few-- the Roulaison from New Orleans uses a Pot Still and comes closest to the Le Rocher vibe (especially the Overproof variant). I did a quick round of this series and the Clairin Le Rocher was the most interesting by a nose.

DeepCover
Vacationing in Maui with another family. This one’s getting cracked open within the hour. My buddy hasn’t had a sipping rum before, so I chose a decent entry level one.

DeepCover
Well it was fun while it lasted. I hear there’s a LS with a decent rum selection up the road.

If you make it to the big island there is a new rum distillery on the Kona coast that David Perkins (formerly owner of High West) is working with that might have some interesting rums. If not they may be available on the other islands. Would almost have to be more authentic and certainly more Hawaiian than Zacapa! Although admittedly that is a low bar... Kuleana Rum Works They currently have a blanc aricole that they made with an aged version on the way as well as a blend of their own rum with some unusual young sourced rums. How often do you see Papua New Guinea as a source???
