Scooped up a Blanton's SFTB and a Hibiki 17 today.

Oh, and a Partagas Serie D No.4 and a Cohiba Genios Maduro 5.

Just got word that a 4RSB LE is waiting for me when I get back home :D

The last time this store got some (9 and 10 YO barrels), it took a couple months to sell through. This barrel all sold out the day after he got it in.

I found this out the hard way! Was shocked it sold out so fast when I went there two days after he got them.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked myself. Glad I had asked for a couple of bottles in advance.

I picked up a couple of bottles of BT Single Barrel a local liquor store had.  Opened one up and it had a grassy, bitter  taste I couldn't get past.  Hoping it eases with some air.

I get that to some extent with all the different brands that come from BT mash bill #1.  I finally gave up on it.  Too bad that seems to be what they're making available.  I really like: mash bill #2, Weller, and their rye.  I don't see any of that in the wild anymore (except for the stray Blanton's).

I'd heard that before, but hadn't had BT in awhile and remembered liking it in the past.  Sure hit me this time though.

I was in Indy last weekend and walked into a Meijer to pick up some beer, and damn, Blanton's readily available for $50!  It's usually $60+ up here in Chicago so I almost bought it... but I put myself on a buying freeze.  I was really tempted to break the self imposed freeze.  RHF is pretty non-existent up here and ETL is getting pretty scarce as well.

It's not a bourbon but close, JDSB. I bought one last week and it was a little lesser, contrary to most I've bought recently. So I bought another, and mingled them (3:1 oldie to new one), and I'm very pleased with the second one. It's much softer and less, well, ''Jack" than the first (the fruity signature we all know). The mingling amends the first one sufficiently, while I have 3/4-ers of a bottle of something I really like. Good deal.

Purchased a case of ER10 single barrel select.

Bought a bottle from this barrel about 3 months ago and it was really good.

Last day of Safeway's 30% off of most spirits, so I got a 750mL bottle of MM Cask Strength.

I stopped by Four Roses B&W facility today.  I picked up a bottle of the Barrel Strength KBA OBSF that a few others have mentioned on here recently.  They also had a Barrel Strength OBSK that I purchased as well.  It weighed in at 52.4% and 8 years, 6 months.  I don't think I've seen a younger gift shop barrel strength bottle from Four Roses.

I was part of the group that selected that OBSF. I'm gonna tell you right now that it needs water and air. When you find the sweet spot, it shines. Don't be turned off by it if it seems too hot at first. Keep working on it.

Very well.  I always give my pours at least ten minutes of air before I enjoy them and only sometime I add water.  I'll be sure to try it both ways.  Thanks for the heads up.

I always try barrel proofers without water first. This one is hot without water. It wasn't even in the running for me at first. It was only after water and air that it won me over.

I was in ky this past weekend for a Willett dinner event at the Louisville Marriott East and picked up a few bottles while down there.  I pass by TPS on my route down so I stopped in Friday and got lucky.  There were doing their 4R Elliott Select release along with OWA, ECBP, and Woodfords latest distillery series release, 5 grain.  I also picked up a couple of Willett 12yr bottles from the gift shop.

Bought a Wild Turkey Master's Keep as a gift for a former coworker @ $130.  He got a significant promotion at my old gig, and is getting married next month.  He didn't really invite any of his work friends, but it seems like a nice gesture.  He and his fiancee are pretty into--but not SB into (if they were SB into bourbon I'd have gotten them a case of OGD BIB)--bourbon, so it seems like a safe bet.  Gorgeous bottle, not shockingly high proof, interesting back story, and most importantly, good bourbon.

Snagged a private selection of ER10. "Selection" may not be entirely accurate, as they told me they were basically offered a barrel of ER10 and could take it or leave it.

Great bar in that hotel.

I picked up three ECBP's today. One of these is for a friend.
