Not today but about a week ago...

I was in the Milwaukee area visiting family and stopped by my usual out-of-town spots.  Picked up mostly beer I can't get in central IL (3 Floyds, Toppling Goliath, New Glarus) but the two whiskey purchases were HW Yippee-Ki-Yay for $57.99 and Henry McKenna BIB for $24.99 (it has crept up to $33 in my area).

Saturday I picked up 4R private select OESV and OBSO, plus some Rowan's Creek that was priced too good to pass up.

I found a bottle of BT Single Barrel at $24.99, same price as the BT I can find there everyday.  The BTSB I found about eight months ago was excellent so I'm looking forward to breaking the seal on this one.

Buddy of mine picked me up this.  Can't wait to crack her open.  Haven' had it yet since they don't sell it here.

I liked that one from the start. One of the few where it lived up to the hype, and I enjoyed it immediately.

Stumbled upon another Stagg Jr today - $54 out the door.   Maybe not a spectacular buy, but 10% less than the one open now...

Always good to have a backup.

Stopped into a small wine shop while visiting some clients north of Chicago - picked up a few bottles of rose when he shop keep asked if I liked bourbon...I do...he then asked if I would be interested in a Willett 23 year bourbon he had in his basement taking up space. Little pricier than the Rose, but an interesting find none-the-less. Bottle has a sticker on the back that calls it "the brown bunny"

Is it "The Brown Bunny" or "My Brown Bunny" at 127.2 proof (Barrel 2873)?  My Brown Bunny looks to have been a pick by the Illinois distributor for Willett in 2014 according to this site.

I have no idea why they called it that either!

"My brown bunny" - I didn't have the bottle in front of me when I posted. It is barrel 2873 - I cracked it open last night - really nice stuff. Thanks for the extra info on it - the color is spectacular

Bruce knows everyone's bottles better than they do. That's in Appendix B, Section III, subsection 2 of the StraightBourbon handbook.

Days ago, I bought one HMcK BIB.  As a single barrel release (although they release lots of bottles from different barrels at a time), bottles can vary so I buy one at a time even though I usually like it.   I tasted it over three days in different settings (while I was sweaty and tired, after chips and dip, just before bed, while doing dishes, neat, with a little ice, etc.).  Barrel 2498 filled on 7/26/2005 was/is wonderful.  I finally got back to the store and bought the three they still had.  I found it in a Virginia ABC store.  I did not taste the other HMcK BIB barrel on the shelf (3188?), just the 2498.  It was worth the return trip.

Yes it is. Haven't had the pleasure of trying the WSR yet, but I went through an entire bottle of OWA in 4 days last week, while in Oregon. I loved it. Luckily I managed to find another. ????

Jim Beam Bonded $17. Enjoying it over ice since I left the bottle in my hot car for a couple of hours. So far I'm happy with the purchase.

I find the OWA significantly better than the WSR. Not sure where others come out on this. I hope u enjoy both.

Visited my new favorite store last night as they are now the first in my area to carry SAOS. I picked up a bottle of 11 year for myself and these two for my buddy who couldn't make the trip with me.
