Did you see the bottle and  happen to catch the Batch #?

I forget. Just remember that it was distilled in 1991.

The higher Batch numbers were a mix of Stizel-Weller bourbon and a rye of some sort. Nobody but the Zoellers and Castle Brands know for sure but 16 and up seems to be the the suspect  range. And by all accounts those were not nearly the level of the earlier batches. And misleadingly labeled too.

A little ECBP tonight while I watch my glorious Cats put a spanking on poor Stephen f Austin.

I love college basketball almost as much as I love a glass of strong bourbon

Does bourbon really make you poop?

In my experience, anything will create that effect.... if you wait long enough.... and, if you eat regularly.         ...Just sayin'..........

Doing a blind SBS taste test with my bourbon bud.

We chose  3 FRSiB PS for our test subjects. Mash bills: OESV, OESF, OBSO.

Our conclusions:. The OESV was winner, with the OBSO a close second. The OESF was good but still a distant 3rd tonight.

Next time results may vary.

After what I think was my 13th straight day of work with many more to go I had a couple of heavy pours of Blanton's Gold - not sure if it helped but I enjoyed it

Having some ECBP 140.2 right now, that's some dark juice right here. it's very good, very similar to my 2015 GTS but you can tell it's a little bit younger.

Cheers!

How is this?  One of the few Buffalo Trace products that I cannot seem to locate.

It's pretty good, but most likely would not buy again.

It's a Turkey kind of night. My bourbon 'appetite' has been somewhat limited with this cold I've been fighting. Only a few whiskies have both sounded and tasted good. Last night the HWMWND wasn't as good as the previous night so I switched up to WT101 and it worked very well. It was the only thing that sounded good tonight so I started with that and then went to Rare Breed and then Single Barrel, the latter of which was really good to my compromised palate.

I think I'm finally on the upswing so hopefully more variety will be available to me this week.

Spent Sunday at the Eagles and Falcons game.  Beautiful sunny Sunday morning and afternoon.  My first very taste of Makers 46, both neat and in Manhattans.  It was good, better then regular Makers. Perfect day!

A healthy pour of Bakers while catching up on The Walking Dead

Great pour and one not mentioned often. I never understood what the taste of "red cherries and apples" was until I tried Bakers. Thumbs up on your choice for The Dead.

Not Yet; but packing a Blanton's on my trek up to the Northern areas of our 'Mitten' for the annual deer hunt.    If either my son-in-law, or I score, it will be the celebratory pour afterwards.

I make it a point to celebrate the life of any animal given for me, especially a Whitetail Deer (which are so damned hard to hunt on public land) in a successful hunt; and Blanton's seems a fitting way to do that.

I dipped into my Elmer T Lee stash tonight, and opened up a bottle. This is a store select single barrel, and it is delicious. It embodies everything I remember about ETL when I was starting this bourbon journey, and ETL hooked me. Sweet, flavorful, a bit of complexity but very easy drinking and just a pleasure to drink.

It's a shame I can't find ETL anymore, and it's a shame I felt bad opening one of my 6 bottles of ETL I have left. But alas, bourbon is for drinking, and those bottles will still last me a good while. And who knows, maybe I'll stumble upon another bottle of ETL at some point in the next couple of years to restock.
