I dipped into my Elmer T Lee stash tonight, and opened up a bottle. This is a store select single barrel, and it is delicious. It embodies everything I remember about ETL when I was starting this bourbon journey, and ETL hooked me. Sweet, flavorful, a bit of complexity but very easy drinking and just a pleasure to drink.

It's a shame I can't find ETL anymore, and it's a shame I felt bad opening one of my 6 bottles of ETL I have left. But alas, bourbon is for drinking, and those bottles will still last me a good while. And who knows, maybe I'll stumble upon another bottle of ETL at some point in the next couple of years to restock.

Hard to blame you on that!  cheers!

E.H. Taylor Single Barrel 2015  Very good, not great.

Gregg, was that the first pour from your bottle?  I found that the last EHTSB I had was average to below average tasting the first few pours but improved significantly as I worked through the bottle becoming quite good at the end.

Wild Turkey Rare Breed tonight. Nearing the end of a bottle and I must say it's tasting rather good. Really opened up over the course of the bottle.

Funny thing, if it is the bottle from Liquor Outlet, I was helping my father get back on his feet after an extended hospital stay, and I found a bottle of this that I had given to him in his cabinet and enjoyed a nice pour with him before heading back home.  In addition to your note, which was spot on, I would add great body and mouthfeel. An astoundingly solid pour and a shame that it is not more readily available.

Before dinner, a pour of my newly opened bottle of OF1920.

After dinner, a pour of FRSB.

Two very different pours of bourbon.

Both nice in their own way.

But at this point, I favor the FRSB.

I find it is a bit sweeter, and less "hot".

Glad this wasn't my imagination.  I really hated this when I opened it.  Just dropped below half fill now (9 months later) and its starting to get good.

Yep, Liquor Outlet selection it is.  I think these bottles were like $26 per bottle or something like that several years ago, and after I opened up my first one and it was solid, I bought a few more bottles.  As often happens, once I hit 6 bottles in the bunker, I say how much more am I realistically going to buy.  So I stopped.  I should have bought 6 more.  Just no way of knowing that ETL of all things would become a unicorn.  OWA same thing, though I have many of those in the bunker.  Those used to be all over NJ, now I haven't seen a bottle in years.

As to what bourbon I am enjoying, had a pour of RY10YSB last evening--still excellent and opening up nicely.

Smoke has really @##$%'d up my nose and palate, so pouring the last few oz of my hazmat ECBP.  Yep - that cut right through the crummy Georgia air, like I thought it might!

I'm drinking through the Old Bardstown BIB at a pretty good clip.  A little bit of licorice and hay seems to be having its way with me.

Finished the last of a bottle of RY10SB, then a pour of Old Charter 8yr, and a final short pour of Old Charter 10 yr

A few drops of water will probably take care of that.
