elmossle
The last small pour of EC22 for me tonight. Man was this one good to the very last drop. After that was finished, decided that it was time to put more of a dent in the open bottle of HH6BIB.
Whiskey Dick
I go through maybe one Booker's bottle a year, and when I get halfway through the bottle, the cork would always break....always. Today, I got into my first '16 batch, and was happy to see a synthetic cork. No more broken corks!

We went solidly into my best stuff. In order: FRLESmB 2015 EC18 2015 WLW 2016 ORVW 2016 OWA SiB The OWA held its own with the ORVW, but that 10 year was superior and very special. It was a good night. Charlutz, I may be late with the birthday wishes, but we're only a few days apart in age, and there's been a fair bit of celebrating around here. I'm glad you decided part of the celebration should be enjoying some particularly fine whiskies, which is exactly what I chose to do. Just goes to prove there's something special about those born at the end of November 1966! Happy Birthday! And a toast, to us on our 50th birthdays, tonight it's the FR 2012 Single Barrel LE, one that I'm fairly sure you'd appreciate if I could pour a second glass. M777
Just opened a bottle of rockhill farm sb and poured some into my glass. This is my first time trying this stuff and it's fantastic! Better than Blanton's in my humble opinion. The first opportunity that I get I'm going to snag back up bottle.

Some of the recent batches have been more variable than in distant past years; but the least of 'em was/is still damned fine Bourbon.... And one or two have been exemplary. That may change as the average age seems to be creeping downward; but until it does, I'm a FAN!!! BTW, thanks for putting us on to the Toogie's Invitation. I picked up a bottle a few weeks ago and find it to have more 'personality'. Lesser Booker's are a blast of good flavor. The Toogie's has nuances that rise above the intense baseline. Money well spent which is not always a sure thing.
Hop
Finished off the Bulleit Barrel Strength I had open and moved onto a 1.75 of ER10 store pick - may take a little longer to empty this one...

Glad you enjoyed Rock Hill Farms. It is definitely one of my mainstay bourbons. I also prefer it to Blanton's, though Blanton's will always have a spot in my bar as well. Sometimes I'm in the mood for the kick, spice and earth of RHF, and sometimes I'm in the mood for the more easygoing Blanton's. Definitely pick up a backup when you can. For some reason, NJ seems to get a decent supply of RHF, but it seems to be in rather short supply around the country. Good luck.
TehMik
Last night had a small tasting of MM 46, WT 101, and Orphan Barrel's Gift Horse. I think MM 46 has replaced the "basic" MM in my book, or at the least relegated MM to being just a mixer (or something I serve my parents who don't know how to appreciate good bourbon). WT 101 was, well, WT 101. You know what you're getting. OB-GH was really weird. I think I like it, but it was still really weird.

Charlutz
Stagg Jr. 129.7 last night at a friend's house. Although this is the lowest proof of the 7 batches (I think) I found it very hot neat. After adding a little bottled water, still too hot. Added a little more and it was just right and the flavors started popping.

I'm a huge fan of WLW but had only had the 2013 and not recently enough to compare. I also love the 2015 FRLESmB but it's not like you can compare that to the WLW as they taste nothing alike, nor are they supposed to. I'll continue to post notes as I spend more time with it but but since we were drinking six whiskeys that night, we limited to a half oz. each and its hard enough for me to express what I taste without the complication of lots of small pours. I will resolve to drink more WLW in the name of research!

I can get HH8yo BIB for just $7.99! Times have indeed changed...
Mark S.
Hello all! i am new to this site but an old (70) bourbon drinker. My favorite outlet just received its allocation of Elmer. I was fortunate enough to snag a bottle or two. Am enjoying it neat with a splash of distilled water in my glencairn. I look forward to perusing this site and reading so many interesting comments on so many interesting bourbon areas. Cheers to you all!!

beasled
Cracked open a Weller 12 from the bunker. Better than I remember the last one being. Still prefer Old Fitz 12 but this'll do for now! Cheers all.

The stuff in the bottle does the real business. Not everybody will likely agree with me . . . or you, for that matter. Each of us has a unique palate, and experiences our pours in our own individual ways. To someone else, Toogie's may be very ordinary. All that said; I'm very glad you got one and are enjoying it so well. Cheers!!!! (Don't forget about 'Repeal Day'... a good excuse to enjoy some pours!) Heeeee-HEE! If you ever get out this way, save room in your luggage. Personally, I can't stand the stuff so take as much as you want home with you. We also have a good amount of RHF, which is my favorite of the BT mashbill 2 RHF, ETL, Blanton's bourbons, in that order. Tonight it's CEHTBP for me.
