Kepler
Picked up a Booker's 2016-06 Noe Hard Times even though I already have a bunker full of Booker's. The price was too good to pass up ($42).

I'd trade you a thousand cases of WSR for 1 case of HH BiB 6 yr!!!I'll make that deal. Let me know when you amass a thousand cases of WSR. WSR is not impossible to find around here, but it doesn't sit on shelves long at all. Blanton's is getting pretty tough to track down and Old Grandad 114 has vanished. Now, if you are talking about taste, I do not know if I prefer WSR over Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond. WSR is not a favorite, but my guests and family love it, so I try to keep it on hand. It is also sold at a good price point. Now, I personally enjoy Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond (at the same price point) far more than the Weller Special Reserve. I also prefer WT 101 which is at around the same price point here.Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
OldFitzWithTheGoldLabel
Are those BiB dusties? I never see Old Fitz here in Texas so I have no idea about those.I bet that Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond is quite dusty (or non-existent) in some areas. I used to be able to get this in Lexington in a variety of sizes, but I have only seen it here in handles for the past two years or so.I heard that VSOF vanished so the bourbon could be used in Larceny (which I think is a great value bourbon).I keep my eyes peeled for smaller sizes of Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond. I hope they don't discontinue this bourbon. It is absolutely one of my favorite bourbons and I love how the label has changed very little since at least the fifties. Kepler, can you have alcohol shipped to you in Texas (shipping is illegal here in Kentucky)? If so, you may be able to find some liquor stores to ship some to you. This post from one of the other forums seems to indicate where Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond was distributed to at that time.https://www.straightbourbon.com/community/topic/23391-old-fitzgerald-discontinued/?do=findComment&comment=514866Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Limegoldconvertible68
A quick jaunt down to TN where I found 4RSB on sale for $31.99. Does anyone know how to decode the warehouse or the barrel # info? My bottle is from Warehouse SN. Does that mean anything? Are certain warehouses consistently better? Barrel 45-3K. Obviously if it turns out to be a great bottle I want the same barrel. Can any of this be ciphers to figure out how old the barrel was?
Ruffin51
Hit a couple of spots I'd driven by many times but never checked out on Friday. Snagged one each of Stagg Jr batches 5 and 6 and baby Saz. Bought a store pick 1792 FP on my way home and called it a day.

There was a time when people thought the best barrels came from the ME location. Jim Rutledge always scoffed at that idea though. Their warehouses are all single story so you don't get the extreme aging variations you get everywhere else with the 7 story rickhouses.

Also the SLL pick. Usually they are on point but I don't think in today's environment there is even a choice. Thanks everyone for their comments! It was fun to go to a few stores and add to the bunker (though it's hard for me not to open a bottle or two from each trip). I opened the Ace Spirits Four Roses last night, along with the RRSiB, and the Elijah Craig Single Barrel. The Elijah Craig was NOT good initially. It tasted young, very minty, and spirity for 94 proof. I re-tasted it a few hours later, and it seemed better (and closer to EC12). So the jury is out on it so far. I really liked the RRSiB South Lyndale pick, it is really balanced, and has some good classic WT notes-- and I think better than other store selects I've had (G-Will Liquor, which was a funky cherry bomb, and really out of balance). I can't wait to see how it opens up with a little air in the bottle. The Ace Spirits Four Roses tasted balanced, with a great full finish of cinnamon, vanilla sugar. My nose wasn't very good last night, so I am looking forward to a better night to nose these bourbons. I did try the Ace Spirits 1792 at the store, and it was great for a sub-$20 bourbon. But I do like 1792 when it is on, and I think they picked (or were sent) a good barrel. Edited February 19, 2017 by Jazz Nut

Thanks for the heads up! I'll use ECNAS. In this case it was a store select single barrel of ECNAS, so ECNASSib? It was the first time I've seen the new bottle in the Minneapolis area, coninidentally there is plenty of EC12 in these parts.

kwshannon
Visiting MN, stopped at TW near Mpls that has better deals than Iowa. Picked up MM for 18.99 for 750ml, passed on shelves full of Two Star for 17.99 (750ml). Going to circle back today for EW 1L at 10.99. Had a bottle of 1792FP in cart for 54.99 but put it back, may get it today. Did not see any Booker's. Passed on several items, GD114 for 17.99 (I have 2 in bunker), Bernhiem for 25.49, and ECNAS for 21.99. May look for EWSB for 19.99 if they have one, regardless of year that should be OK.
