It reminds me of a solid Bourbon Cask Balvenie Single Barrel, I don't have one at the moment but one of my buddies does I'm going to have to A/B them, I poured a little of the Glenfiddich XX which is mostly Bourbon cask 17 out of 20 Barrels in the blend and found that more round and less complex, I would have probably guessed more Highland than Speyside on the Glen Fohdry if it was blind, less orchard fruits than with a typical Speyside. I'll try to get some more notes down when I actually have a glass in front of me.

My second night of enjoying some 17yr Glentauchers, batch 3, from That Boutique-Y Whisky Co. This is a wonderful, meaty, Speyside dram that hits on all cylinders for me. I absolutely love this one!

I missed Burns Night due to work commitments, but I'm making up for it tonight with an appropriate dram. This liquid is really Tam o' Tastic… earthy, woody and spicy.

Pretty sure that it's just an old Label Laphroaig 10 I don't think the 15 ever had a label on the "Shoulder" of the bottle like that, I think it's the bottle on the right below:

A little Caol Ila 12 while watching golf. This was a gift.  I'm not sure I'd spring for a bottle of this when Laphroaig and Kilchomen are readily available.

I figured the Hazelburn 9yr SC Sauternes (56.9% ABV) would smoke the Balvenie, and I was not disappointed. Although tasty and complex, The TUN came across as a bit too engineered in comparison.

Knowing nothing about what those two taste like, I'd be strongly biased toward the TUN going by my gut feeling. Looks like the marketing & hype got to my guts then. Very interesting.

I'm particularly fond of young Hazelburns, so please take that into consideration. I tried the TUN before buying it, and liked it well enough.

Having my first ever pour of Springbank 10. Not many stores seem to carry it in my area, but I finally bought a bottle. Anyway, this is a very nice Scotch at such a relatively young age. I may actually pick up another bottle since the price was pretty good at the store that had it.

I let my wife pick for me...right hand of the cabinet, 2nd shelf up, right hand of the shelf, bottle in back...turned out to be Ardbeg 10. An almost full bottle I kinda forgot was back there. Man I love this stuff.
