lcpfratn
First time to see this on the shelf....It's still there Knock $100 off of that price, and then maybe. I’ve seen it on the shelf at different places a few times around the $250 price range and have always passed on it. Unfortunately, it eventually sells at that price after sitting a few weeks or months.
jshleffar
Passed on all the michter's 10 I could buy, because I don't like their whiskey very much and its hard to pay 110 for a ten year, lower proof bourbon when I can get 4 McKenna or ER10 for that price and like it more.
Clueby
Passed on the stuff in the pics. They only put the PICTURE of VW stuff out. Ha! Also had cases of Stagg Jr. and ECBP for $70, CEHT SmB for $65, and a ton of WSR for $30. The only thing that wasn't really too far out of line was ER10 for $35 which is about average here if you can find it.

I have been underwhelmed by OFBB releases for the last several years, even as the price escalated to (what I consider) ridiculous levels. I pulled the trigger on the most recent one a few months ago (after sitting out a year); but, have yet to open it, so I can't say whether the $100 or so that I gave was a fair trade or not. The best of these goes back a good many years, though a few in the early 20-teens were pretty good; but those were priced nearer $50 than $65. So for me the price in that pic would be more like TWO hundred bux too high. This is, of course just my own opinion.

mbroo5880i
I was in Austin on Monday for work. We had a two and half hour break after our meetings before our plane left. We flew corporate so we had plenty of time since we didn't have to go through security. My co-worker was more than happy to stop at a few liquor stores on our way back to the airport. We hit Specs and Twin Liquors. I passed on several bottles of decently priced bourbons. I did buy some bottles but I didn't want to carry on a box full of bourbon with the bosses traveling with me. I passed on a KCSB @ $29.99, several bottles of WSR, HKM10, CEHT Rye @ $62.99 (normally $90 in Indy), Belle Meade, OF 1910 @ $42.99 (normally in the $50s in Indy). This is, of course just my own opinion.Rich, I hear you, but suggested retail from the manufacturer was $99 for OFBB this year, and that probably translates to at least $110 in our area because the distributors always find ways to increase the wholesale price of B-F LE products in our area. And $200 off the price in the pic would be $79, which is a good bit less than the price you indicated that you actually paid for yours this year. While we get decent allocations of BT LE and allocated stuff here, we get very little OFBB. I’ve only seen it a couple of times at secondary prices on the shelves, and for the first time this year, I got the opportunity to get a bottle for $159 from one of the stores that I’ve built a relationship with for several years. Most of the other stores I deal with don’t get any at all, or if they do get lucky, they get allocated one bottle. So, it’s a much harder bottle for me to get my hands on than GTS, WLW, ORVW10, etc. Anyway, I’m happy to finally have a bottle, even if the price I paid was close to the limit of what I was willing to pay for it. Also had a Single Barrel of it. What is it? I thought I was up to date on my KSBW and was surprised to see there’s one out there that is 4yrs Old that I wasn’t aware of. I’m guessing it’s some sort of “craft” bourbon like OZ Taylor, Rabbit Hole or MB Rowland(none of which I’ve bought or tried). Has anyone tried it? Thoughts? im working on a bottle of their regular bib, & like it a lot. id love to try a SB version, & hopefully will soon!
JSpartan
Didn’t have a price and the lady didn’t know what the owner planned to sell it for but based on the usual rare bottle prices in this store, it would have been an easy pass.

fishnbowljoe
I almost bought a bottle of "Not Your Father's Bourbon" the other day. Even though the price was $25.99 with a $20.00 rebate, I passed. Biba! Joe

What initially sounds like a real bargain, might well be re-thought very quickly, as one pours pours out $5.99 worth of dreck down one's drain to keep said drain 'free-running and sanitary'... right?

Or . . . . . you could buy it and when your non bourbon drinking friends want to try bourbon you give them a pour of it and they find it so distasteful that they swear off bourbon forever, leaving more of the good stuff for those of us with more discerning palates. bourbon-n00b
I discovered there was a liquor/wine store about 5 minutes from home so I decided to poke my head in and assess the situation. The first things I see of interest are Stagg Jr ($79.99) and Rebel Yell Single Barrel ($174.99!!). Next to these is a sign banning picture taking and video recording. At that point, I'd seen enough for me to decide not to patronize this establishment. Bye bye Wine Market.

I basically quit going there after I finished extracting most of their smooth ambler MGP stuff last year. The lady that runs the place is at least nice enough and they have a fantastic selection of Now and Laters... even all the flavors that are hard to find.
