I’m enjoying the best RRSiB I’ve had to date by a campfire by the crik. Warehouse H tier 5. I have to get it in now before the next multiple day rain gets here tomorrow. I don’t know how y’all stand it @flahute

Just some regular old BT while cooking chicken pot pie and watching my Minnesota Golden Gophers dominate Georgia Tech in the Quick Lane Bowl.  Life is good!

Received this guy as a Christmas present. While not something I would have picked up on my own it’s pretty good nonetheless.

Hahaha!

Welp.....what we don't tell everyone is that we put up with the rain all winter and spring so we can get to summer which means almost zero rain, consistent temps in the 70's and 80's with no humidity and cool evenings so you can sleep with your windows open all summer. (For real). It's the only way we can put up with it! And, a lot of bourbon.

Love that picture. It reminds me of when I drove my father-in-law out to Yellowstone in 2016. One of the State stores had a bottle of Red 12 Elijah Craig and it was just a fantastic time sitting next to the fire with The Madison River bubbling right next to us. You made me head deep into the bunker tonight to crack open one of my final 3 bottles tonight as I reminisce.

It’s not quite Yellowstone in upstate S.C. but I am in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. I’m glad the pic revived that memory for you. I don’t have any EC12 but I’m toasting some ECBP you’re way.

This little fall gurgling and the fire crackling with a nice pour is pretty close to bourbon zen I think.

I got off work a little early today, and I decided to have a sbs with foursquare 2005 rum and the most comparable bourbon (and not young/corn forward) I have. The mustiness of the rum made me smell something I've never gotten from EHTSiB, Luden's cough drops. I've gotten slight cherry on the nose of bourbons before, but it was never this dominant. Wow.

My favorite part of getting further down the bourbon rabbit hole: sharing the experience with friends, family, and you SBers.

My 2nd favorite part is doing the spontaneous sbs to further discover the vast world of ages spirits.

OK.  Busy couple of days.  GTS 2018 Xmas Eve - a youngster new to bourbon (a Fireball-style fan, but only if it's a "craft" product) was surprised at the GTS.  The scotch drinker (my age) thought it was pretty good but still prefers the high-end single malt scotches (most of which he bought in bulk 20 years ago) although he really liked the ASmith Bowman Port Finish.  THEN, the car battery fried while I was parked in an underground garage on Christmas Day.  The Whistle Pig 10 yr. in the trunk (which I'd forgotten all about until I went digging for jumper cables - found them but by then WHO CARED?) kept me warm until the tow truck guy showed up (then neither of us cared although he limited himself to less than an ounce - Stout Fellow, him).  SO, today, what with heartburn, overeating, paper all over the house, recycling at 7AM tomorrow, etc., I am settling in with SB.com and, later, the last 40 pages of a good murder mystery, and a half-full old fashioned glass (the 9 oz., not the double OF glass) of VOB neck-label "6" which I rediscovered while doing a load of laundry in the basement near the bunker.

LIFE IS FAT, and I am living in FAT CITY.  Happy New Year, you all.

Interesting stuff… matured in Kentucky, finished in an Islay hogshead in Scotland and bottled UCF at 66.1% ABV. The experience is close to the process, with a familiar HH delivery and slightly smoky and less-than-sweet finish.

Xactly Charlie, and Bless you Harry!

Harry, your posts never fail to strike a chord with me. There’s the occasional  odd time that it may be a disonant one, but more often than not, I’m right there in tune with you brother. I laughed my ass off when I read this one. I can relate. Yeah, I forgot about a bottle the other day. I remembered buying it, but couldn’t find it. Turns out it was right there in plain sight on my cabinet right in front of me all the time, precisely at eye level.

We had our family Xmas at our house on Sunday because my son and his family went to his wifes family gathering on Xmas day. So, my wife and I had some quiet time alone for a change. We settled in to watch some Xmas movies late on Tuesday morning. That’s when our power went out.  It was only out for 45 minutes or so, but it kinda put a damper on the whole day. Next, I got up to go to work Wednesday morning, and there was no coffee in my coffee maker. WTF? At first I thought it hadn’t been turned on, but it turns out it had bit the dust. Man was I a freaking grouch at work that day.

I must be getting old or somethin’. <_< Can’t find my bourbon, no coffee, etc... Thanks for helping me keep things in perspective Harry.  Cheers, Biba, and Happy New Year to you and all my SB brethren.

Joe
