I've tried to arrange some thematic Scotch tasting events locally with no success. Even as a charitable fundraiser-- the liabilities and licensing are huge red flags, plus independent bottlings and obscure distilleries (or better yet, a combination of the two) would draw few takers in this Blantonscentric part of the world. They'd much rather receive a bottle of PVW23 for their blind auction. However, if you ever travel to my neck of the woods— pack a Glencairn…

(Laga 21) damn. i had a (rare) moment of foresight and grabbed a 3cl sample back in the day at a hefty cost. i don't know when i will open it but i know it will be a top 3-5 dram of my lifetime... i guess i'm just waiting for the day when i have a few other things lined up to drink alongside it. how'd that ardbeg compare, btw? BigRich
After 40 years in sherry this is about as dark as coffee.
kyrocklover
This is a tasty dram but not as good as the discontinued 16 YO cask strength (still have two in the bunker). A couple more years of age would make a lot of difference. Edited April 20, 2019 by kyrocklover Add photo
Marekv8
Based on a suggestion I made earlier this week, a 50/50 North British and Caol Ila combo...
smokinjoe
The weather here, Down South, has turned damp and chilly. So, going Irish with a Writer’s Tears Copper Pot. Juicy honey over the top of grassy hay. Pairing nicely with an Olivia Master Blends 3.

GaryT
Opened my last Macallan CS last night. Only good for drinking, right? Thick, viscous, dark, and delicious (although not quite coffee dark!)
beasled
Bit of an Irish night tonight, Redbreast 12 and Powers John's Lane 12, courtesy of some 50ml gift bottlings.

LCWoody
Had some CR Cask 16 while I was barbecuing lunch for a friends birthday today. This was the only Crown that I truly enjoyed drinking.
Marekv8
Having fun blending my own “Fauxbias & The Angel” in preparation for opening the real deal. These are already two of my favorite drams (esp the CI 31), so hopes were high. This is probably the most complex and chameleon-like substance I’ve ever tasted— surpasses the freaky heavily peated Isle of Jura, plus even takes water well at a moderate ABV.

Marekv8
Yard work got totally rained out this morning-- so I'm checking out the JWBLG&RPE (how's that for an abbreviation?)… one hell of a nice blend
beasled
This is absolute dream of a dram, the port and rum work perfectly with the SB profile.
lcpfratn
I had a couple of pours of JW15 this evening. I haven’t touched this fairly full bottle for over a year. The last time I had a pour, it just seemed like a decent single malt blend, but nothing that I’d look forward too. Tonight, however, it hit the spot with the right amount of peat and a fairly long finish. I don’t think it will be another year before I have a pour from this bottle again. Cheers! FlounderinDC
Every year in March, the whiskey club I'm a member off always tries Irish Whiskeys. That is where I was first exposed to Kanppogue Castle 16. Such a wonderful whiskey! I searched for it and finally stumbled upon a few bottles and got them all. I it is a great springtime whiskey.
