What dram are you enjoying - Winter/Spring 2019?

Have you ever thought of having a "Whisky Fest" at your house?

I've tried to arrange some thematic Scotch tasting events locally with no success. Even as a charitable fundraiser-- the liabilities and licensing are huge red flags, plus independent bottlings and obscure distilleries (or better yet, a combination of the two) would draw few takers in this Blantonscentric part of the world. They'd much rather receive a bottle of PVW23 for their blind auction.

However, if you ever travel to my neck of the woods— pack a Glencairn…

Vosgar lives about 7 or 8 miles away from me. I swear I just heard him go, “Ooooooooh!”  ^_^

And some peat (with sherry).

damn. i had a (rare) moment of foresight and grabbed a 3cl sample back in the day at a hefty cost. i don't know when i will open it but i know it will be a top 3-5 dram of my lifetime... i guess i'm just waiting for the day when i have a few other things lined up to drink alongside it.

how'd that ardbeg compare, btw?

Same league - but the peat is still kind of beast in the Ardbeg.

After 40 years in sherry this is about as dark as coffee.

This is a tasty dram but not as good as the discontinued 16 YO cask strength (still have two in the bunker).   A couple more years of age would make a lot of difference.

Based on a suggestion I made earlier this week, a 50/50 North British and Caol Ila combo...

The weather here, Down South, has turned damp and chilly.  So, going Irish with a Writer’s Tears Copper Pot.  Juicy honey over the top of grassy hay.  Pairing nicely with an Olivia Master Blends 3.

Opened my last Macallan CS last night.  Only good for drinking, right?  Thick, viscous, dark, and delicious (although not quite coffee dark!)

Bit of an Irish night tonight, Redbreast 12 and Powers John's Lane 12, courtesy of some 50ml gift bottlings.
