6 year old Willet Estate @ $84.99. Is there something magical about this product that I’ve completely overlooked?

Im with you. The rye is good. But its a freaking 6 year old.  It doesnt compute for me. Seems like paying a premium for the label. More masterful marketing. Especially when the single barrels are $110-$120

If it is the same one Minnick has winning this blind the juice certainly sounds tasty.  I've not tried it, or seen one, but think the MSRP was $250 if I recall correctly.

Fred is Fred, and Chuck C. and Mike V. are Chuck and Mike. Just sayin', and FWIW. ;)

I got Freds Bourbon book for my birthday. Ill try to  be objective and put my feelings about him aside. So far it seems like a decent book.

Don't get me wrong. I don't dislike Fred. It's just that he's pretty different. Kinda like the bourbon industry is currently. ?

Passed on Maker's RC-6 for $45.99.  They had several bottles.  First time, I have seen it and I didn't really know what I was looking at.  However, I remembered hearing something about it so I looked it up when I got home.  I was crunched for time since I was at a big box store and had stopped in to pick up something during my lunch hour.  I might go back later in the week and pick one up if it is still there.

Is that Costco pricing? That is much lower than I’ve seen it at Binny’s in Chicagoland area.

Not sure if this constitutes a pass or not but failed to acquire OFBB, sold out in less than 5 minutes on PA's wine and spirits site.

Passed on ETL 100 Anniversary. To be honest I would have passed if it was offered at the same wholesale price my LS paid. I have always liked ETL ESPECIALLY back when it was available at $36 or so. I could have paid the $200 and flipped it for tater money but not interested in that tactic. It's a strange thought (coincidence) that the "inventor" of Blantons passed at 93? The same juice with a slight bump in proof my current state of zen just wouldn't allow it!

Tastes kinda dickelish, if you’re into that profile.

I am NOT going to touch this with a ten-foot pole.  Too much "low hanging fruit" in the quote, IMHO.     ?

Despite promises to myself I went ahead and did it again.  Passed on ECBP at a fantastic price (sub $50).  Spending has been at an all time high this fall, I already have several of batch B519 and I had numerous other bottles in my cart.  If it is still there next week I may bite, but then again maybe not as there are still a few other items I left behind like a 10 year WP cask strength rye pick.  I am very intrigued by that one.

All in all I think this is a good sign, both for bourbon and me personally that I am able to find enough other bottles and leave this for someone else without too much regret.

Also, its been mentioned several times, but now that the dust has settled it does appear that HH's logic for discontinuing the EC 12 year age has stated to yield much more ECBP availability.  That whole debacle happened 6-12 months before I got involved in bourbon so I am not one who went through the process feeling like I was lied to though so I have less hard feelings about how it all went down.
