WT101 seems to appear with higher than average frequency. This is impressive given that, in my opinion, just a few years ago it had wandered off into the desert. It would be really nice to have WT8 and 12 back again but I suppose those honey barrels are now dedicated to other iterations.  Even so, good ol' WT101 is once again one of my favorite regular pours.

It had wandered off my bar for sure.  It had become astringent, thin, and not very good...to my tastes.  I can remember my come-back-around moment maybe 4-5 years ago.  A pour at the Hilton University Place, Charlotte.  That moment returned it to an occasional pour, which begat a bottle buy here and there, which begat a consistent bottle buy, which begat a Top 3 Daily Pour.

If I'm allowed to include my back stock of bunkered discontinued budget whiskeys that I have enough of that they could be considered daily pours, then here is my list:

- WT101 any bottling

- EC12

- HH6BiB

If just considering currently available standard SKU's (no private picks):

- WT101

- Knob Creek

- OF 100 Rye

I'd like to include Rare Breed as a "daily" just because it's my most consumed whiskey behind 101, but since it's now over $40 I will leave it off

Current:

1) WT 101: The go-to pour when at a restaurant or event

2) Early Times BIB: The go-to pour over 1-2 ice cubes on a weekend night

3) Four Roses Small Batch Select: The open bottle at the office for small celebrations, sharing

Honorable Mention:

4) Old Forester 100 (scratches the same itch that  ET BIB currently does)

5) OGD BIB (would be more of a go-to if it was as easy to find as WT 101)

6) Buffalo Trace (especially the private selections, but have had a few clunkers temper my enjoyment)

  • 2 weeks later...

If I had better access to good bourbon and whiskey these may change. These have been my go to pours though the last month.

1. RR10

2. ER
3. ....JB Double Oak... I don’t know what is is about this! After a pour or two of my other drinks I like to switch from  sweet, vanilla, caramel tone, to a bold, char, spice, grain but not rye flavor. At $15 a bottle I’m a fan. “To each their own”

One note from a guy who has had lotsa 'good Bourbons'... The ones you mentioned ARE Good Bourbons.   ...Just sayin'.

Your own particular palate my eventually find a preference for a few, other than these, that hit a few different notes in an appealing way; but, I bet you won't "not like" any of these even after such experiences, NTF.

Good Luck, and Happy Tasting!

From time to time, I contemplate selling the bunker and limiting my self to 5 bottles at a time. RR10 would be one of those 5 bottles.

As a fellow Lawrenceburg honk, I'd bet a $20 bill you could never have less than 5 different bottles of RR SiB at one time!

I'm glad I don't have to keep it to this three, but if there was never another, I would be ok. Wait... Oh no... Ritt it is tonight

So if you all would send your unwanted PH 13 my way I could hopefully put it on the list. It was so good I couldn't believe it.

#2? (the rank, not the body function:P) I guess it'd be whatever I'm currently drinking down.  For example, I've some 2nd tier HMck BIB 10 YO barrel #5877 (a good barrel, not a great barrel) 750s I've been working down to free up shelf space and to make drinking the clunkers I alternate with it slightly more potable - one shot HMcK then one shot dreck - repeat ad nauseum.

LMFAO!? I'm constantly trying to make shelf space.  My wife will file divorce papers tomorrow if I encroach any further onto the kitchen counter.  I either send out "samples" or I foist my clunkers on visitors who want a "shot" of whiskey.  I may sample from time to time to confirm they're still not good.

Even in jest, the thought of "sell the bunker" is sadder then my two empties. I hope it never comes to that. I'll send you a cabinet or something.

I don't have many 'daily pours' (with over 100 bottles open, there's way more variety than there is consistency), but if I did, they'd be WT101, Baker's, and OF Sig (sorry - OF "100 proof").  All readily available (although I guess Baker's is moving out of that category) and delicious.

I've got an 80' Red oak and 100' white oak I'm slaving this year due to lightning damage. So custom cabinets in about 4 years from my woods

Top three dailies....hmmmm.  Well, here's a definitive list of what I fill the recycling bin with empties of.  Note:  (there's a tie for third)

1)  WT101

2)  JB Distiller's Cut

3)  ECBP / Rare Breed

Great thread!

In order:

WT101

EWBIB

OGDBIB

I'm pleasantly surprised by the # of folks who are WT101 fans.
