Ha! The constant battle in my parents household. My dad insists on waiting until the day after Thanksgiving for anything Christmas related and my mom chomping at the bit to get started. When I was a kid I'd always sneak in a Christmas record on Thanksgiving day and my dad would feign abuse. Good memories.

We normally wait to decorate or, at least, turn on Christmas lights until after Thanksgiving.  However, we decided to decorate early.  Our thought is if the decoration and lights make us happy and others happy, then why not.  This year we just rolled from Halloween straight into Christmas.

Knob Creek done.  Time for a pour of Remus Reserve.  Excited for a second try.  Tree decorated.  Time to relax.

I love it! We need it this year more than ever. I confess I listened to Charlie Brown Christmas today. Made me happy. I've been pulling out the special Christmas bourbons early. Trying to get in the mood sooner this year.

I saw a meme today for women: Hallmark movies teach you how to marry a nice man. Lifetime movies teach you how to kill him.

So true.  Some Lifetime movies have a darkside.

Interestingly, a lot of Hallmark movies take place at wineries.  My wife says that is because women like wine.  I say that they would increase voluntary male viewership if the movie starred Mila Kunis and took place at a distillery.  I don't believe bourbon fits their target demographic.

Our tree was completed this week. Lights will go on Thanksgiving night as that is our tradition.

Sorry about that knee! Continue with the bourbon medication!

I'm enjoying some ? 101.  It's become a favorite.  I'm glad some companies still respect the concept of a flagship brand.  ?

Since I just opened a different b-day gift bottle and enjoyed that so much I thought I'd keep the "birthday" theme going tonight, even though my bday was a long time back. So having a pour from this 2018 OFBB. Since these BB bottles are so damned wide I figure I'm gonna need to make some more room for the '20 BB I just scored anyway ?

Poured my newly acquired OF Statesman, and it was certainly on-point with my palate tonight.  I took a quick sip as soon as I opened it, then let ~2oz sit in my glencairn for about a half hour while I put my kids to bed, before really diving in. Rich leather-honey nose, little nip of peppery spice on the tip of the tongue; creamy viscosity coats the mid-palate and really balances the spice. Medium-long finish with a great sort of milk chocolate note that I’ve only ever gotten with other OF products but really enjoy. Added a few drops of water and it really opened up, amplifying the aforementioned flavors and adding in other nuances. Suffice it to say I’m a satisfied customer ?

I'm digging the OF theme tonight.  I've been wanting to crack this store pick from a few years ago.  Like the '18 OFBB earlier, this is also further evidence thst a great Old Forester bourbon is like making a trip down the produce aisle at the grocery store.  Fruits all over the place...

Just a travel retail KC100 this evening.

Still beached, but now in Canuckistan for the winter. Yes, I realize I'm doing the reverse-commute of vacationing...

Had some BT in hot cocoa after taking the puppy out. Windy today with gusts over 50 mph. When I got up this morning, it was 51 degrees. It is now 35 and snowing. Been a good day for watching some football.

I am smacking the crap out of a bottle of Four Roses standard single barrel based on the indirect suggestion of @flahute and @WD40.  All of the Four Roses talk made me determined to put my palate where my post replies were pointing.  A good decision on all of our parts.  Cheers to all!

And yes, I am watching another Hallmark Christmas movie, sort of.

Ha! I love it! I have killed 3 bottles of the 4R standard single barrel over the past couple months after discovering that they had come back to the quality that I remembered.

And, I just might watch some Hallmark Christmas movies in honor of you.

I had 2 mini pours last night. Both were hot as can be, so I shut it down due to having a bout of crappy palate. I think it's smokinjoe (if it's someone else feel free to correct me) that uses Dickel12 as a palate resetter when things are off. Tonight I'm using 4RYL as my palate resetter.

That's the spot. Sometimes an 80 proofer is necessary, even if it's not out of the freezer.

Benchmark No. 8 and, yes sometimes, Basil Hayden's does that for me.

This weekend for some reason I was in a cocktail mood.  Friday after dinner, while my better half enjoyed another glass of wine, I had a Manhattan made with Whistle Pig 10 y.o. rye and Woodford Reserve Orange bitters.  Saturday night was an Old Fashioned made with Ezra Brooks, Demerara simple syrup and Woodford Reserve Chocolate Bitters.  Final pour was some McKenna BIB to celebrate my finding another bottle of it a Kroger W & S for $37.

Dude!  I think you should head south; as in South America.

I hear that winters are a bit warmer down there than in Canada.?
