beasled
Deceptive at 40%... lots of nuttiness and fruity notes going on with a side serving of bourbon. This is terrific. If I'd have had this blind I'd have assumed it was a French spirit of some sort.
Harry in WashDC
Neat Writer's Tears Pot Still 80 proof while grilling bison burgers. Dinner was be those burgers with an Irish whiskey+decaf coffee+Kahlua+vanilla ice cream+cubes (all run through a blender). I may never get out of this chair again.
LCWoody
Having an early afternoon pour of Signatory Specs pick. This is really good.
beasled
This is a blend of cask strength Laphroaig 10 at 60.1% and standard Laphroaig 10 at 40%. I think its about 40/60 ratio and the % comes out at about 50%. I thought it would be interesting to try and make something a bit more palatable between the two and, well, its pretty damn good actually.

Marekv8
Dalmore King Alexander III in the dark (and hot)... I’m actually quite enjoying this unexpected change of pace— but I do have a penchant for chainsaws and hand- washing dishes.

Rhettro
A (not-so) wee dram of Glenfiddich 14 Bourbon Barrel Reserve to kick off the evening. I love how this smells mostly of “scotch,” but drinks like ultra-sweet bourbon. It’s not the most complex bottle on the shelf, but it’s a fun ride every time I tip it.
IowaJeff
I had a sample of a peated Paul John from the SMWS a few days ago. Very unique! Dark, heavy, tarry smoke on the nose with a lot of pepper and exotic spices I can't specifically identify. Heavy smoke on the palate too, but with a creamy sweetness - like creamer in a really strong mexican coffee. A funky one. https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/149393/paul-john-2014-smws-1346 My first Paul John. Anyone had any others? thoughts? Guss West
A hot and sticky week passed last night after a hard rain; into a sunny, cool autumn day today. The cooler air put me in an Islay mood, so I'm starting my weekend with the giftbox Bunna 12 from a few years ago. Really opened up into a sweet caramel barley candy. Feels like Ardbeg 10 will be making an appearance later this evening as well. Going to head over to one of my LLSs this week for a collection of German Octoberfest bottlings for the season (any recommendations?). Bring on autumn; traditionally my favorite season of the year!! Prost!
PaulO
Up for something different too, with rain and cooler temps. I'm having Loch Lomond. Let's see, German Oktoberfest beer - Spaten, Ayinger, Weihenstephen, about any of the ones from Bavaria. Check out the beer thread.
Guss West
I've made a terrible mistake. I have a bottle of Nikka FTB about 1/4 empty sitting in the dry bar for the past two years. When I first bought them, I returned two of them as it was not really to my taste. What an idiot. Well. A little air in the bottle to breathe for a bit along with my own palate maturation; and this dram is stunning. I'm kicking myself for not buying more of this when it was $60/btl. Last time I saw it, he wanted $90! I once called this a tuition whiskey; well, lesson learned. Ouch.

BigRich
It’s a Compass Box night tonight. An aperitif of Orchard House and then after grilled burger I had a few pours of the Peat Monster 10th anniversary.
