Finished off my bottle of Auchentoshen Triple Wood which I bought by mistake thinking I was grabbing the Auchentoschen 12 which was next to the Triple on the shelves.  I was in too much of a hurry to put on my reading glasses and didn't even realize my mistake until after I opened the bottle and had a taste.  I cannot recommend this one . . . it's unbalanced, overly hot, overly packaged and overpriced.

The GBS St. Patrick’s Day gathering was last night.  It was great to see folks.  We had a couple of Irish Whiskeys last night.

What is a boiled dinner when it's at home?

Seeing out the weekend with Laphroaig 16. Good stuff.

Glendronach 21 "Parliament" and The Macallan 18 at the Jig and Reel last month while in Knoxville, TN.  What a great bar (over 1,000 whisk(e)y bottles to choose from) and live music to boot.  Lots of pretty co-eds from UT (I'm told - didn't notice) and great pub food (Steak and Ale pie was outstanding!). We go back in five (5) years - can't wait.  🥰

Signatory Vintage Isle of Jura 26yo heavily peated at 56.5% ABV— distilled in 1989— after a day in the yard.

I got around to opening Teacher's Highland Cream.  The label says high in peated malt.  Initial response is I'm a fan.  I definitely taste some peated malt.  Mouth feel is rich.  Pretty decent blend in my opinion, and 86 (not 80) proof.

Getting ready to put the meat on the grill, along with the potatoes and onions.  Meanwhile, a certain redhead is keeping me company…😁

Glendalough 7 Year Single Malt Irish Whiskey finished in the famed Mizunara cask. Initially  the nose was young and took a bit of time in the glass for the alcohol to blow off. Once got past that it had the Irish creaminess with a nice little honey note and spice maybe? Looking forward to seeing how this develops once past the neck pour.

Looks like an awesome lineup!  How were the Waterfords? Had a little bit of hype to them and I had been seeing them around.  At one point, the local shop discounted them but I never took the plunge. Always been curious about them.

Prepping a flight for the weekend-- constant cork/closure failure has become a tedious reality.

Others could share their opinions but mine is that it is an exceptionally well made young whiskey that it's worth the premium price.

Agreed.  But their closures which are a glass stopper with a plastic or rubber grooved seal ring has gone to the top my my most hated bottle top!  You think some Knob Creek tops are hard to grab and get out?  Those are a picnic compared to the Waterford ones.  It’s in very tight, and the glass is hard to grip.  And it doesn’t release gradually.  It’s in tight, until the millisecond it releases.  Almost impossible to not spill whiskey taking out the top.

I share your hatred of these glass stoppers-- PM Spirits uses them across the board and many times it causes me to choose another pour to avoid the struggle.

I've enjoyed every pour of this Teacher's.  It will be replaced when I get the chance.

Indy Caol Ila. Lots of smoke, iodine, toasted vanilla pod, earth, cream soda, pepper, wild stuff. Love it.

I kinda like the vinoseal stoppers.  Give it a push across the top (sideways) with your thumb to crack the seal - then it just lifts right out.

Welp, somebody didn’t wake up from their afternoon nap in time to get to the grocery store before close.

Dinner tonight: not particularly complex cheese and the last drop from my Bunna 12.

Teeling single malt. It is a beautiful fruity interesting taste, very easy to sip on. I had 2 small batch earlier, equally as nice, very similar. I have to laugh, when I ordered the whiskey with my dinner earlier the bar man dropped it down to the table and placed it right in front of my boyfriend. That often happens. (He doesn't like whiskey at all)
