I recently mixed up a home blend of something similar.  A few years ago I bought a case of a local store barrel pick of Larceny 92 proof that I really really like.  With plenty of bottles of that, I decided recently to mix up a 50:50 blend of that with a Larceny BP C921.  I love the blend!  Folks here on Straightbourbon.com have the best ideas!

I have a bottle of the C922, which is supposed to be one of better ones. It is really good but drinks as hot as the other releases that I've tried.

I find the regular Larceny underwhelming but am intrigued enough to snag one, just to try the blend.

I do that a lot with Larceny and ECBP.  It's amazing how even adding 25-30% of the BP to the lower-proof expression really punches up the flavor.

I guess I have to get a regular Larceny and try this.  Got a B522 in the basement at the moment. I'm game.

Agree!   I love blending a barrel proof expression with its lower-proof cousin.   My favorite is a 50/50 WT Rare Breed and Russell's Reserve 10.   The result is close to Jimmy's proof and tastes just great.

With the taterverse losing their minds over ECBP C923 and it being the holidays and quite chilly here in N. GA. I decided to crack a nice ECBP tonight. I missed out on C923 but I do have a batch 12 (136p) “pirate bottle”. It’s a delicious pour as I am also enjoying a pretty good TNF game.

Next week….GO PATS!!! though that may have to wait till 2024 at least, yup barrel proof is called for!! Slainte!!

Foggy night out here at the beach.   The dog's been walked,  and it's time for a pour - 50/50 blend of ECBP (C-921) and Russell's Reserve 6 yr Rye. 

 

As an alternative to just proofing down a barrel strength bourbon with water, this sort of thing works sometimes, and sometimes not.  I don't think these two quite mesh.   Oh well.  Willie, though, hits the spot.

Yeah, mixing bourbons and ryes is a crap shoot.  For my own home blends I usually stick to bottles from the same distillery.  I know in advance that they will mesh well together.  My time is too valuable to work my way through Frankenstein blends.

Things that make you go hmmmmm. I did a partial cleanup/straighten up of my bourbon room last week. More work to do. I even did an inventory, which included checking a few bottles stored elsewhere. Bad news, good news. The bad news is I had one less WLW than I thought. I have a 2007 open, and one 2007 and a 2021, 125.3 proof in the bunker. I thought that 125.3 proof seemed familiar when I read your post Steve. The good news is I thought I only had one bottle of Blanton’s in my bunker. Turns out I have two. I just bought another one, so I just might have to open one soon. 
 

Getting back to WLW, I don’t chase it, nor will I over pay for it. My pattern has pretty much been to get my name drawn in a raffle every other year. That’s where the 2021 came from. My name wasn’t drawn last year, so maybe…….
