natedawg
I have the 75th and 137th pick. I should be able to get something good. What would you get?

Hmm 75th pick, are you sure you'll get something good? Personally I would make a list of bottles you want to pass on first. Then go from there. Try to predict which bottles the BT taters will grab first. Good luck!
natedawg
At 75 I don't expect anything exceptional but I don't see these bourbons on the shelf. I guess good is a relative term. I counted 65 that I am almost certain will be gone. I figure I will make a wishlist and hope for the best.

Looking at the quantities, it seems like Weller Full Proof and Stagg Junior should be available ... can't go wrong with those. If you're lucky, the Four Roses SmB LE will be overlooked by many and might still be available.... however I haven't seen any review of the 2024 4R LE so I can't comment on how good this year's release is, but for me it's a a nice one that sometime flies under the radar these days. I think at 75 it will come down to your personal preferences. Another thing to think about is "what bottles are likely to still be available at pick #137?" and don't choose that bottle at 75. Kinda like an NFL team would approach their draft picks. Good luck!

I'm assuming BTAC and VW stuff gets grabbed straight away. If the Rock Hill Farms is still there for your first pick, I say yes. Weller Full Proof also interesting. Your second pick, really hard to say what might be left. Get what you might enjoy. Let us know how it goes.

Great food and some great bourbons and rum.We drank the Bookers 30th on Wednesday and all were amazed. The OF 9, Stagg 24A and rum were on there last pours when I left this morning. When we got home I found this in a box in the back seat from the host. The note simply said,¡Bienvenidos a la familia! Love that bottle! Does very well in blinds with other unicorn heavy hitters like RR15, 4Roses 2024, and JD12

markandrex
This is amazing! I got this from a friend in Texas for Christmas. I was totally unaware of this SA offering. Nancy Fraley and Still Austin seem to be an amazing parternership. https://www.stillaustin.com/tanager-cigar-blend-bourbon-whiskey I am anxious to open but the bottle and packaging are beautiful. From what I understand, there were around 1000 of these. This has to be the most artistic offering I have ever held. i need to add two more pics on next post.
markandrex
More pics. My wife’s career has been in packaging. She sat there and scrutinized it and was amazed at the level of detail involved.

These caused a stir locally in Texas when they were released. I saw several posts on local social media. I have not seen a bottle but then again I haven't been shopping lately. My wife has taken to putting fruit out for them on a feeding hook. They also like the suet feeders and meal worms that the bluebirds love. Beautiful birds.

Mark, I'm simply amazed by some of the stuff you get. Often, it's something I didn't even know existed before. Good for you, you open and drink them too. We'll be waiting for that review.

You'll have to let me know what you think about it when you crack it open. This one I wanted to create to be as close as possible to the original Cigar Blend Cognacs from 35+ years ago. Although I work with grain and not grapes these days, I modeled it on two of my mentor's blends. The first one was the Germain-Robin Old Havana brandy, which my mentor Hubert Germain-Robin first created in 1994. The second one my other mentors, Alain Royer, had a hand in the creation of Cognac Frapin's Cigar Blend. That one also came out in the early 1990's. In trying to be true to the original Cigar Blend tradition, I chose not to do a cask finish on this one. On a bit of a tangent, I think the whole finishing trend has gotten way out of hand, and I'm personally bored with doing them. At any rate, hope you enjoy Tanager during the holidays! Cheers! mbroo5880i
Still Austin is one of my favorite "craft"distilleries. I have had several bottles over the past few years. My DIL bought my first bottle when she was in Austin for work a few years ago. I have been hooked ever since. Fortunately, the local TW carries several of their bottles. Members are sworn to secrecy. @markandrex's pick ups make even @GeeTen envious. Just kidding, but they have the best connections to great whiskey. No surprise that many of those were crafted by you.
