I was up picking up my son in the Owensboro area this morning.  I CC had some time to kill and found these.

More of Nancy Fraley’s work!

Murray Hill Club is like the Fight Club.  Rule #1 about the Murray Hill Club is you do not talk about the Murray Hill Club.  Members are sworn to secrecy.

@markandrex's pick ups make even @GeeTen envious.  Just kidding, but they have the best connections to great whiskey.  No surprise that many of those were crafted by you.

In all my searching I've never come across a MH special release. Not sure when and where these are ever available. Nice pickups!

My Holiday haul 🎄:D

Saz and Lot B were loyalty purchases from my local.  The other three were Christmas gifts from my family members.  Yes I know I'm very blessed to have a wonderful family. Lucky me!🤶🎅🎄

Pretty Box!   Kinda poorly rendered Scarlet Tanager, though.  Ha!

Well now you have a back up bottle.  Haha

Have you tried it yet?

This is embarrassing, neighbors got back from Florida today and brought me this.  I invited a few friends over on Saturday so, weather permitting, we are opening one for a review.

We opened the SA Tanager last night.  Since it was a fresh opening, we gave it about 15 minutes in the glencarin before starting to open up.    Again , the packaging and details on this bottle is spectacular!  The Still Austin team did an amazing job on every aspect of this offering.

Nose:  Orange peel, strawberries, raspberries, peanut brittle ( homemade  kind),  coconut and egg nog

Palate:  caramel,  brown sugar, cinnamon, tea, cocoa and ripe strawberries

Finish:  Salted caramel, fruit tarts, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

This is a very special bottle,, it will be dolled out very sparingly.  It has a depth and complexity that is very rare.  I am very happy to have three bottles.  I may even try to add to that count.    My two friends said it was the most amazing bourbon they had ever had.  It will be interesting to see if it opens up any with time.

Nancy and the distilling team outdid themselves with this.  The level of expertise is breathtaking.  It easily is in the top five bourbons I have ever had in 50 years of enjoying this hobby.

If you have the opportunity to acquire a bottle (or more), do so.  You will not regret your decision.

@markandrex Wow, I'm absolutely humbled that you are enjoying it that much! Trying to make a whiskey that complex at only 5 to 6+ years old is arguably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my career. Head distiller John Schrepel and I felt that if the company was going to ask around $150 per bottle, we really had our work cut out for us to make it worthwhile to a consumer. 😅🥃

Cheers, and enjoy it in good health!

Wow!  Sounds amazing!  I'm really looking forward to opening up my bottle and trying it.

I forgot to provide an update that I'm now like 0 - 1,475,927 in the VA lottery...somehow I feel like this is statistically almost impossible to have never won something in at least one of the lotteries over several years...ha ha ha
