jowilker
To celebrate the birth of my first grandson, that came 3 months early at about 1.5 pounds, and that I had to miss because of a bad sinus infection. I poured a glass of Knob Creek, and raised it to my son and the other grandfather. Lord grant me wisdom to give to this child, and to make choices that will be pleasing to you. Thanks for all of the great posts, I have learned a lot about good pours. Thanks to all for your imput.John
StraightBoston
A comparison of Old Weller Antique 107s: a gold-filigree UPC 88076 bottle stamped "92" and a more recent version from a year or so back. The Louisville wins hands down between the two, but the Frankfort bottling stands up to most others in my cupboard.Does anyone else get "burnt butter" from S-W whiskey of the 90's? I also tasted it in an older bottle of OF 1849 that I tried in Tokyo last year.
NickAtMartinis
Equal parts '07 WLW and Weller Centennial. The combination is very good.
birdman1099
Elijah Craig 12 years old. It's never been better and the current bottlings seem to sum up all there is to sayabout fine bourbon whiskey. Cheers.GaryI would like to second that. There is no better QPR pour out there. That being said, I completely decimated a bottle of Bookers tonight with my 2 brother in Laws. (even though I know Booker Noe will have the last laugh tomorrow morn !!!):puke:
jbaker
Looks like it's going to be a beer and bourbon night. For the beer, I'm pleased to be trying Oskar Blues TenFidy Imperial Stout. I wish I had some Blanton's, cause that'd be mighty fine next to this spicy stout, but I'm going to have to settle (ha!) for Mr. George T. Stagg. A dram or so (pardon my Scottish) and then maybe on to WLW 7yr to round out the night.
gothbat
FR:SB; I'm pretty impressed by this bottle. When this almost empty bottle is gone I will miss it!
Luna56
ERSB, my old standby.Wish I had me some FRSB, but the ER is mighty fine hooch. It is helping to erase the memory of the WR I got on the plane yesterday.Cheers!
cigarnv
Enjoyed a few fingers of Weller 12 last evening. Just picked some of this up and must say it is quite nice... not quite as sweet as the Antique and a bit more elegant.... and a bargain to boot
fogfrog
Four Roses Small Batch..... I was drinking too much coffee and wanted something after dinner ... I decided on the four roses and found it has so much taste! I cut it with water..... Its like some sort of fortified wine or something..... Definitely a flavorful bourbon..... fogfrog
I am having some Jim Beam Black after having the four roses small batch.... but to tell you the truth, the Four Roses has so much more taste than the Beam it is not funny!

Sijan
Rock Hill Farms, last night and again tonight. Forgot how much I liked this one. Minty notes on the nose and quite spicy on the palate! My bottle is nearing empty and has been open for a few years now, so I think it may have oxidized a bit, but this is still drinking very well. She is now thirty with a son of her own, my Grandson. As I read your post, I reflected back to the days of her birth and my worries and concerns. My prayer has gone out for you, your Grandchild, and your families.

ggilbertva
Started earlier with some DC and ETL. Don't particularly like the ETL that I have so it's a mixer for me. I ended the evening with some ORVW 10/107. I have one small pour left and then it gets listed in the Empty Bottles Support group forum....... Jazzhead
Sunday evening for me is for sipping good bourbon. I'm listening to the splendid Ken Colyer Jazzmen, which is just about perfectwhiskey-sippin' music, the purest and most ancient of New Orleans sounds. And for that kind of music, I'm sipping my old reliable, my long-time and time honored favorite: Old Forester BIB.Delicious. As the Jazzmen would say, My Blue Heaven. StraightBoston
The 80 proof discussion got me to thinking about my UD bottle of Old Fitz Prime, which led to a wheater flight:Old Fitz Prime 80pf (UPC 88076)VWFR 12yo Lot "B" (Frankfort; S-W contents)William Larue Weller 121.9pf (2005 edition)Maker's Mark Select 95pf (black wax)The '05 WLW doesn't get as much love here as its newer cousins, but it's the only one I have open, and it acquited itself well after a splash of water to equalize proof. The Lot B won on the nose (all of the first three have that wonderful S-W note) but the MM Black has the best finish. I'm calling it a tie.
