Rake
EWSB '95: a nice, well-balanced pour.I had to make a special trip to a distant store for this bottle, but it was worth it.
TBoner
Following a nice Delirium Tremens ale with dinner, I'm into the whiskey:A 1:1 vatting of Old Charter 101 and Eagle Rare SB. Nice: the Charter picks up the sometimes (to me) bland and straightforward ERSB, while the latter adds depth and maturity to the NAS Charter. On deck: Handy 2007.Regards,

ratcheer
Tonight is a strange night. Today was very hot and humid. When I was bringing my son home from basketball camp at around 4:30, there were repeated, magnificent lightning strikes on the mountain ridges all around us. I would say that within about a 10 minute span, we saw 15 or 20 huge strikes. About halfway through this display, it started pouring down rain. The power had knocked out our freezer, so we decided to oven barbecue some pork chops. We are also having yeast rolls and corn on the cob. So now, just before dinner is served, I am having a healthy pour of Elmer T. Lee in a tall glass with lots of ice cubes and an ounce or two of water. It is hitting the spot.Tim
Gillman
Tonight I had a Pilsener Urquel from the can, so fresh it was draft-like. This is by far the best pils beer in the world. It has a malty sweet yet complex herbal taste that is unique.I chased it with a vatting of bourbons on the rocks.Gary

CorvallisCracker
Some Zaya 12yo rum. Picked up the last bottle on the shelf at the only local store that carries it. Probably the last bottle they'll have produced by the Guatemalan firm of Industrias Licoreras; I expect the next shipment they'll get will be the new stuff, produced by Angostura. Plus, the price goes up $3 on Friday.Great stuff, super smooth. Brown sugar, vanilla and butterscotch. Yum.

Probably just my beer inexperience.Weller SR, looks like I'm gonna finish this bottle pretty soon. JoeAnd then go buy another one, I'd bet! fishnbowljoe
I will get a few bottles of the Weller SR eventually. Right now I'm on a mission. Trying to empty a few of the ones I have open so I can add a few more of my favorites to the bunker. Joe
PhilsFan
I'm not exactly sure. My friend at work brought in something a friend gave him...It didn't come in a whiskey bottle but in a jug. His friend said it was Wild Turkey straight from the barrel. My friend brought it in while I was on vacation and two of my co-workers had a pour and are still alive two weeks later, so I thought I'd try it.It's got a very light amber color, it's slighty sweet taste at the start, lots of heat and then a bitter aftertaste at the end that almost reminds me of gin rather than bourbon. It's a raw taste that's a definite change of pace, and I like variety.-Joe

cigarnv
Old Fitz Prime 80PF.... even for a $7 bourbon this is a bit light for my tastes... low proof and wheat. Followed this up with a bit of Hirsch 13yo Rye from the black wax bottle... quite a change from the OF....
StraightBoston
Last night I tried Booker Noe's "Kentucky iced tea" style -- about 3:1 water to bourbon over crushed ice -- with two pours that just don't work for me straight: Knob Creek and Old Forester BIB in a 90's dimpled bottle. (I know that both are highly regarded by many here, but they come off to me too much as "bourbon" -- without the vanilla/caramel/butterscotches, or the fruit, or the extra-spicy rye of all the other bottles that I like better.)Of the two, the KC came out ahead, although I found some of the flavor in the diluted Forester that I appreciate in older bottles of Woodford Reserve or in the Birthday Bourbons. cigarnv
Sipping a little pre-dinner Willets 6yo 95.4PF bourbon. Very nice easy sippin pour with a bit less octane then many of the Willet's offerings...
Stones
I bought a bottle of Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve this week and will be cracking tonight. I'd tried it at a friends place and it was a really tasty drop! Along with this i have an already open bottle of Blantons Special Reserve Single Barrel which i am loving at the moment. Even though it is their entry level bourbon it has a consistent smooth smokiness which lingers on the pallet nicely.

callmeox
JBB then ER 10/101. For two bourbons in the same price point, there's no comparison whatsoever. ER beats it like a rented mule.

I find the ER 10/101 an excellent expression while the JBB is just plain nasty most times I've tried it. I ended up vatting my JBB with a couple others I don't particularly like for use when guests want a mixer etc...
