Keep going with the WT 12. I like it a lot, though not as well as ORVW 107 (better than ORVW 10/90 though, IMO).

Last night while watching UFC, I indulged in some Town Tavern, as KSBW from 1975.

Spent the weekend sampling some cocktails. Had a Bulleit session on thursday, started with an old fashioned (tasted great, really drinkable) then moved on to a mint julep (was good, but I only made 1 so I probably didn't get it completely right). Night off on friday (pub) then had a Maker's night on saturday, starting with a manhattan (dry, made with Noilley Prat, really hit the spot) then onto something called a New Orleans Sazerac (wash a glass with pernod, then add sugar, bitters, ice and whiskey) which smelled amazing and tasted great. Tonight I endulged in a spot of Wild Turkey (only the 80 proof for geographical reasons) starting with an old fashioned and then a manhattan which were both nice (on the end of the manhattan now) although I'm considering washing that down with a spot of Old Grand-Dad (86 proof).

All in all, an entertaining weekend for me.

Bernheim Wheat: I forgot how much I like the slightly sweet, fresh from the oven biscuit taste. Definitely a keeper.

Wathens. One to keep around. Hard to catagorize but going to get another.

I guess a toast is in order, as my daughter heads back to school, and 4th grade tomorrow. Not sure whether I'm happy, or sad...:confused: Maybe Mr. Stagg will help me decide!

Bernheim straight wheat. I did taste this first at bourbon bistro in Louisville and liked it. I did bay a bottle to take home. When I did open it as the last one from the journey as recall I did not find the same taste. A bit interesting but much dryer and more “unripe†so to speak. Today I did revisit the half full bottle for the first time in a half year or so. All of a sudden the taste from bourbon bistro was back. A nice medium sweet, softly spicy (wheat?) and slightly chewy whiskey. Exactly as I did remember it from Kentucky. It never stop to amaze me how much positive things oxidation can make to American whiskey.

I'm two days away from opening my doors to my first (of many) Firehouse Subs restaurants....so....in celebration I broke out my 1959 Old Forester BIB and poured a nice dram. Terrific nose, entry and mid palate is rich, and the finish turns somewhat tannic but not unpleasantly so. I've waited for some time to open this bottle and am thoroughly enjoying it. Cheers all.

I LOVE Firehouse. Way better than Subway, Quizno's, etc. Now I'm all hungry just thinking about it.

I don't have any 1959 OF BIB, but I do have some OF Signature, so I'll breah that out and have a pour. Congrats on the new opportunity!

Several Manhattans at a local pub. While I was there I educated not 1 but 2 people, friends of my brother, about how JD is NOT bourbon but rather Tennessee Whiskey. Anyway, now it's on to a bit of some WT RR Rye, this is my first bottle and it's pretty damn good!
