I did try to post this on the “bourbon of the month†thread but it was closed!? Just having the last out of a 1985-2002 90,8 proof bottle. Not to my liking concerning the price. Very woody but with nice fruit underneath. I am sure a higher proof would have helped quite a bit here.

Built a Manhattan: started with a 4 bourbon blend, rocks, red vermouth, two kinds of bitters. The drink was good but did not quite cohere. I added a dash of Wyborowa Exquisite (vodka) for "display" and it shook the drink into perfect balance.

Just a question for the uneducated. Exactly how much Vodka constitutes a "display"? A dash is not enough information.

Okay, this is how I did it exactly.

I put three big rocks in a Waterford glass (8 ounce). Filled it to 3/4 with a four-bourbon blend (Stagg, WT 101 8 years old, Maker's and Warehouse, a bulk bourbon from Rhode Island I've mentioned). Added red vermouth to top it plus Peychaud's and Angostura bitters. (I added a minimal drop of Fee's oak-aged too).

Took a pull. Good but not quite together. Added the Polish vodka to top the glass. Swirl hard. Now it's rockin'.

A few generous pours of Pappy 20, with a shot of Tres Generaciones Anejo tequila to start it off.

I should add, the Manhattan I described is intended to serve two.

I've had three Evan Williams Single Barrel, neat, oaked 1998, bottled 2008.

I didn't know how the EWSB would be today since I have been nipping at a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed all week, also neat.

But it held it's own, I did hit apon a sweetness every now and then that I have not detected before.

So now I figure tasting seriously is over.

But I still want to taste.

So I pour some Wild Turkey 101 over some cracked ice.

And to think, only one more day till the holiday weekend.

A those portions I would hope so. Dabled in a version last night, my whisky was not vatted like your version. Used WT101 with Weller 12, Blood Orange and Peychaud bitters, Sweet Vermouth and finished it off with some Rain.

It needs some more experimentation, but I was impressed.

I'm having a small pour of Booker's while I'm waiting for the pork tenderloin roast to cook. I may select something else to go with the meat, perhaps some JD Single Barrel. I'm home by myself tonight, Just me and the dog. Duke is allergic to pork, so when the roast is done, I'll heat him up some left over plain hamburger and perhaps a hard cooked egg and mix it in with a bit of his dog food. I bet he would like a small taste of Bushmills 10.

Yeah, that's how I do it, too. Really! (I've known Gary a good time!) Of course, I use the 95% GNS he left me at Doug's in January...:skep:

have a bottle of Basil I would like to put down... It is not a bad bourbon, high pricd for what it is, but not bad.

It does not taste like OGD 114 watered down, but hard to call from 114 to 80 proof. I don't like teh OGD 114 (new stuff), but this bourbon is quite plessant.
