Due to a post by OscarV I stopped and grabbed one of those old label 80 proof Turkey's tonight (brown label). I nosed it in the car on the way home, go figure it's WT. upon arrival at home I poured a nice glass an found it very good, not Old No. 8 (early release) good but this one could be a step brother!

Hey Oscar, it's open when you want to try it!

Cheers,

Tony

:D

Starting off the day with some Colonel Lee Bottled in Bond. Thanks to Philsfan for this bottle.

Next, I.W. Harper 15yr BHC. It is my standard, special occasion pour. We'll see what follows.

After a couple of the S-W WLWSR I switched to that WTKS special bottle that I stated before I did not care for.

Guess what? This stuff has come around. It has been opened since Saturday, maybe all it needed was some air. I think I'll leave the top off for a little while.

I'm having some RHF BIB, bottled in '95, in honor of Jeff's birthday.

This is my very first taste of RHF, and I'm liking it a lot.

Cheers, Jeff! :toast:

Finished off the night...hugging my Dant, listening to Roy Oswalt seriously messing up the Pirates. Sent those boys packin'.

Rock Hill Farms...I have one of those in the bunker. How did you like it? Better than AAA 10yr?

Great Bib choices everyone! Glad to see Bib has not died a slow death.

I'm usually way too cheap to spend as much as I spent on this one ($41.99), but as much praise as it gets I've always wanted to try it. And since I ran across this older (1995) bottle, I figured this one might be worthwhile to pick up. I wasn't disappointed and so far am liking this one a lot. I've never had AAA 10yr so I can't compare, but I think it is way better than the AAA 10 Star that I've had, but of course it also costs a lot more.

Does yours have the Cheezy Gold Chain? I think mine might be a 96 or 97, maybe? It has a card from Gary Gayhart in the box.

Yeah, mine has the gold chain and came in a box with the included info card saying it was dumped on 8-22-95. Since most of the newer bottles that I've seen don't come in boxes with info cards, how would one know the bottling dates of these offerings?

Pilsener Urquel brewed (per can code) under 2 months ago, superior in my experience to the green bottle version which often seems light-affected (to a degree) to me. This beer is cakey-rich, biscuity with the clean overlay of resiny/lemony/earthy Saazer hops. One of the best beers in the world, and better after an hour and a half bike ride in rush hour Toronto with jaunts into some swish quarters. Still discovering parts of this town, today it was Hogg's Hollow West and Don Valley West areas, lovely homes and parks.

Our Local High School (Skyline - ESPN has them ranked 23rd) has been pretty hot the last couple years. They won the State championship last year, and are ranked 1st so far this year. They went down to Oregon last week for a Best Of the West game and beat the #1 Oregon team 21-0. It's awful early still but they look to be pretty good again.

I am enjoying an Eagle Rare 10...trying to mend the body after putting up a section of fence the last couple days. Digging post holes is not as easy as it once was...

Yesterday was Jack day.

Mostly GJ & JDSB. Went on a boat cruise with a bunch of Jack collectors and retired Master Distiller Frank Bobo and his wife Avalee. What a beautiful couple!

Congratulations!

I have a vague recollection of you losing your job earlier this year. If that's true, then an additional congrats.

Either way, I'll have a PVW 15 (don't have any 23) and toast your success!
