After recently finishing off a bottle of WT RR 101, I decided to revisit the current, 90 proof expression.

I think that Chuck is right: this is a mighty fine bourbon in its own right. Certainly more mature and well-balanced than its "small batch" siblings. I like it.

Then you have a better bottle than I did. Mine lacked any chariter.

It really did not even taste like WT. When stacked against any other WT, mine seemed like an off brand.

Laird's Apple Brandy

George Dickel #12

JTS Brown BIB

WLWeller Special Reserve, both S-W & BT

Wild Turkey Rare Breed

Four Roses 120th

and some homemade hard cider.

If your thinking that there must have been another meeting of The Michigan Bourbon Hounds then you were right.

Although small but none the less another steller session was held today.

Dr. Francois AKA Jeremy came down this afternoon and introduced me to this apple brandy that was very suprising, like he said a cross between brandy and bourbon.

Just poured another of my budget KY trip bourbons...JTS Brown:

Nose - very nice....sweet notes.

Taste - nice, a little sharp bite neat...smooth finish.

A very tasty budget bourbon...I like.

Tonight I was trying two bourbons. One is a current Knob Creek. It is so soft and rich that you can hardly notice the alcohol, quite a feat for 100 proof! This bottling has a little more of the trademark Beam anise than some others but the taste is well-framed by the richness and age of this bourbon. Very good stuff.

The other was a vatting I did of Maker's Mark, some 1960's Beam's Choice, Weller 107 and a bit of Stagg brought down to about 100 proof. Perhaps it was 4:2:1:.5 or so. A very good vatting, seamless, round, candied, smoky.

Drank a small pour of '03 Saz18 earlier with my friend while be bottled the beer. The only other Saz18 I've ever had was the '07, which I loved, but if I recall correctly the '03 blew it away (don't have an open '07...)! Soon it will be time for another, bigger, pour of the same. :]

Old Grand Dad 114

Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye pale ale

Knob Creek

Gary, I'm in agreement. Beam, interestingly, seems to have really hit its stride with recent Baker's and Knob Creek bottlings. They are back in line with the flavor profile with which I fell in love several years ago and perhaps even better. Baker's to me especially has improved with the anise drowned out by bitter, earthy chocolate tones.

Regards,

As I was walking by my cabinet a while ago, I heard a bottle calling to me softly, "Pick me, pick me." It was a bottle of Pappy 15. It was open, on the shelf, and looked inviting. It's good. I hesitate to walk buy my cabinet. I'm not sure what else might happen tonight. :skep: Joe

I can't believe it! A bottle of Lot B grabbed me as I was headed into the kitchen a while ago. It was open, on the shelf, and looked inviting. It was good. Real good. I'm gonna have to move my bar/cabinet. Joe

I have some bottles talk to me before I have had a drink.

But after a few pours they all seem to talk to me and all at once.

It gets kinda loud sometimes.

George Dickel No. 12, neat.

It's a little dry and not what I am in the mood for, I think I'll pour it over some ice.

One finger blended bourbons, a half teaspoon brown sugar and both Angostura and Fee's Oak-aged bitters. Shake that thang, pour neat, no ice. The touch of added sweetness and quinine-like bitterness from the bitters really make this drink, they combine with the bourbons to a notable, pleasing balance. A little sweeter, or a little less sweet, and it wouldn't be half as good; this is the nicety of cocktails.

Tonight started with a 1992 WT Old No. 8, then some hand selected Barrel # 52 ERSB, and now some WTKS 1995 I'd guess this one might have been selected by Jimmy as well! The depth on this bottle is very nice to say the least.

Troy,

Did this bottle come from Australia??

The only bottles I have had here tasted like crap!
