Sure did. Got it from a shop in NSW a while ago. It is really fruit jammy (marmalade like) honeyed and has a fair bit of wood to it. No metallic or off notes in this one.

The Willett family came for a visit tonight. Started with the 6 year Bourbon, "Pear Tree." Next up was the 7 year Bourbon, "Old Fuss & Feathers." Maybe I should spice things up a bit, so I welcomed a pour of the "The Iron Fist" 23 year Rye. I think I will conclude my evening with a portion of the 25 year Bourbon. Good Lord I love this family. Maybe I can get them to adopt me!

I started out with an ER 10, and have moved on to some GT Stagg. I just finished my fence after 3 days of hard work and my body is protesting...I might have to pour a third to appease it!

I had four 5 Gallon buckets of crushed rock in the back of my van and I had to hit the brakes for a deer, then I had 20 gallons of rock spread all over the van! That was the worse thing that happened so I think things are good!

Complete newbie here.. I just picked up a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel 1998 vintage. Can't wait to try it. I was going to go with Maker's Mark as an intro, but I have high hopes for my first bottle of bourbon.

I am used to drinking high gravity bourbon barrel aged beer, so the progression seems to make sense to me.

Tonight...a wee dram of JW Corn SCW at 100pf. The corn whiskey is a nice change up once in a while and it's working tonight. If you haven't tried CW, give it a shot to taste the corn sweetness.

Thanks for the welcome! I enjoyed a glass last night. It was an experience indeed. I know that time will allow my taste to adjust and really appriciate the complexities of fine bourbon. Last night was just a small, tiny step on the rocks with a splash of water.

But I think my next glass of EWSB will be in a snifter.. no ice.. no water. And I will sip it ever so slowly. (I felt the water and the temperature wasn't too cold.. time to jump in)

I'd like to comment on your mention of a snifter. There have been several threads over the years regarding glassware for bourbon. You might find something interesting by using the Search function.

IMO the nose of most bourbon is too intense to benefit from the use of a snifter to concentrate it. A glass of smaller volume with just a bit of taper is adequate (again, IMO). Two examples are the Reidel bourbon glass and the Glencairn blender's glass. A few members have happened upon similar glasses that aren't as expensive.

I thought I could quickly find photos of each, but all I found were the threads linked above.
