I opened up a 2-10-98 bottle this past weekend. Initial response is I don't care for it; too leathery? I had some WTRR 101 also open and tried side by side. The WTRR 101 was much better.

I know my taste buds can change, so I will wait a few weeks and try again.

Here is yet another to add to the list: 03/06/02 9-c-27 dark wood top found today in Myrtle Beach. I also found some 06's and 05's. The 06's had the turkey logo and looked more like plastic than wood. Does anyone know which they were? The 05's were definitely dark wood w/o the turkey logo!

Saw my first '09 WTKS yesterday -- bottled 5.15.09 (there were 4 of them), but I left it. I didn't want to gamble for $40, especially when the '08 WTKS I tasted was only blah.

Good call. You know the juice going in is not getting older... I would guess until they get more space to store barrels... it will be that way... or until the next glut....

Found two (didn't buy) today. Looked like pewter, felt like plastic, but I'm pretty sure they're are dark wood w/logo.

noticeably different handwriting between these two bottles.

I know the consensus is that the light tops are younger and not as good and maybe that's true as a general rule, but I opened up the bottle from barrel #29 and it was stunning. I could tell from the nose it was going to be a good one and it reminds me of some of the older Turkeys I've tasted (thanks, Emerald) -- I like this much better than I remember liking my 04 Dark Top.

Any chance this version is still around? That is 4 days from the bottle day I am looking for for my daughters birth. Close enough for me. I'll just change the birth certificate or better yet I can turn a 5 into a 9 on the bottle. She'll never know.
