Yesterday, I picked up a bottle of Benchmark Single Barrel. I've passed this up several times, but decided this was a good time to try it since it was only $14.99.

This week I got 2 Willett 13 yrs, a Willett 12 yr, a Willet 5 yr, 2 '08 Eagle Rare 17s, and 2 '08 WLW. Some of them may be going to a bartender friend to stock their bar..

Had to dash in and out of Chicago in a little over 2 days for a family funeral but I had a tiny bit of free time to pick up a few things. I hit up the Binny's in Algonquin for some Weller 12's for me and Dean Sheen and I cleaned up some excess '98 pewter top WTKS at a store outside of the city.

Yesterday, I found a couple of handles of 8yo WT101. No date stamps on the neck wrapping or labels, no government warning, and 89 molded into the bottom of the octagonal bottles, so I'm assuming it was bottled in '89.

Also got a 375ml of Old Charter 7yo 86 proof with a faux tax strip and 81 on the glass bottom, to give a try.

To replace some empties, I got a Rebel Reserve, Ezra B 12 yo SB, and, just for the heck of it, a 1792.

My wife bought me a bottle of Kentucky Vintage.

It is by far the most powerful on the nose of any

bourbons I've tried. Tasty, tho'.

Saw 4 bottles of the 2008 George Stagg on the

shelf but couldn't talk her into buying me one -

Continuing on my search for bottles (sort of) exclusive to the Aussie market, today I picked up a 1 litre bottle of Jim Beam Gold Label BIB.

Not today but last week in KY.

I got some 4R1B 2009 Barrel Strength.

They were out at The Party Source, I got mine at The Thoroughbred Shop in Lexington.

I saw about 18 bottles at The Liquor Barn on Beaumont Centre Pkwy in Lexington.

Also a 2008 4R Mariage, 1.75 lt of 4R Yellow Label and of course a JTS Brown BIB that came in at a whopping $9.49.

Got lucky and met Jimmy Russell at the WT gift shop.

A tour bus he was waiting for was late and we had a nice long conversation.

I told him about my Turkey collection and said I was lucky to have some that I did.

In 1955, a year after he started work at WT he said they came out with a commemortaive bottle that he didn't get and now wishes he did.

I got a bottle of WT Kentuckey Spirit at the gift shop for him to sign.

Whilst talking about the Turkey collection he said they had the Wild Turkey Wedgewood Crystal their so I got that to.

Empty and sealed with the additional stopper, they no longer allow spirits in Wedgewood.

It comes in a suede box that is satin lined. Mr Russell said it looks like it is in a coffin.:grin:

I also asked her to pick up an AA 10 y/o, but they didn't have it at the store she went to.

While she was away I got invited to a friend's cottage Up North. Did a little dusty hunting and gobbled up a sweet one that will he roosting in the dusty finds thread when she gets home with the camera.:grin:

• Old Weller Antique 107

• Henry McKenna Single Barrel (Bottled In Bond)

• Four Roses Single Barrel

• Old Grand Dad 114

• Old Forester 100 (75th anniversary repeal of prohibition commemorative bourbon with Glencairn glass)

The Party Source is fantastic! I had no idea it was just across the river or I would've went years ago. Though surprisingly I couldn't seem to find any Pappy Van Winkle or Old Rip Van Winkle. Do they ever stock those?

Oh well, I finally got my hands on a bottle of Four Roses to see what all the hype is about. I hope I got a good single barrel bottling because the guy that worked there steered me away from the small batch stuff. I've also been wanting to try the Henry McKenna single barrel for many moons now and I'm stoked about scoring one of those too.

Picked up a bottle of ETL. The price went up a couple bucks since the last time I bought it, which was about 4-5 months ago. It'll be worth the extra cost, if this bottle is as good as the last.

They stock the Van Winkles when they are (periodically) available. You'll usually find them locke din the separate glass "premium" cabinet since they typically limit purchases to one per customer per visit.

Also be sure to check out their bourbon tastings. I went to a great one last Saturday featuring Craig Beam of Heaven Hill.

I just found out about that specific tasting last Thursday and it was long since sold out! :smiley_acbt: We thought about going anyways to see if there were maybe some empty slots, if somebody couldn't make it or something but we just decided to go on Sunday and keep an eye on their schedule.

So how did it go? Taste anything that really impressed you?

I should also tell a sad story about our dinner at Buckhead Mountain Grill just across the street. We get in there and order our drinks. The waitress brings me a nice big pour of Booker's (neat) and my girlfriend's iced tea. We place our dinner order and we both get up to go to the restrooms to wash our hands. When I get back to the table it had been bussed and emptied (along with the glass of ultra-premium-top-shelf Bourbon). The waitress was NOT happy with the bus boy. I half-way wondered if he actually threw away that Booker's or if he knocked it back himself!!
