Nice damn hall... I love seeing a stock like that... brings a tear to my eye.

I must say. This year, I've done a pretty good job.

I was running a few errands today and found a few minutes to look around some stores that I hadnt visited before. Didnt find anything too sexy but did find some 03 Old Bardstown BIB from DSP KY 31.

Now that I have tasted it, I'm kicking myself for leaving four bottles sitting on the shelf!

Picked up a 2006 GTS @ $60. I've never had any GTS but figured it was time to give it a try.

Good price too. Enjoy!

Picked up 2 more Binny's Weller 12s for the bunker. Also successfully convinced a guy deciding between a special Bourbon or Scotch that PVW 20 was the way to go. Same thing happened last week at another Binny's with someone hemming and hawing over Jameson 12 or Lot B. Just doing my best to preach the message about American Whiskey.

While out tonight with some friends at a really true old tavern and a stranger bought my Old Grand Dad straight up because he thought it was so cool that I ordered it. He loudly exclaimed to the other stool sitters "now that's a real whiskey" and I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth.

We got some Van Winkle 10yr 107 in so I snagged a bottle and bought it. Also got some VW 12yr Lot B that I luckily snagged the last bottle in the case. I reserved it, hopefully no one steals it before my next paycheck. I also just found out we got some 15yr in, but it didn't go on the floor. All the managers got them I guess, all gone now. Maybe next time. We sold out of all the Van Winkles in 1 day, including the 20 and 23yr.

Two more bottles of FRSB. Man, this year's juice is exquisite!

ain't it tho? I currently have three bottles of Single Barrel, one of the 40th anniversary, one of the 2009 Barrel Strength and about 1.66666667 of the 2009 Mariage.

We are living in the Golden Age of Four Roses, my friends.

So far, I haven't had a Four roses I haven't liked. It showed up on shelves here last week, and my wife generously bought me a bottle of the yellow label. The youth and yeast show through, but it's good whiskey! I've had most of their other expressions- some of the hard-to-get ones thanks to Josh- and I haven't been disappointed yet. Seriously makes me rethink just who my favorite distillery is.

Only thing- I'd love to see the black label here in the US. I'd really like to try that expression.

Lots of people here seemed to like it, and the price was too good to pass up, so I got a bottle of Binny's Weller 12yo right before Thanksgiving. I've had a couple pours neat, and no regrets. $25 well spent.

Sure wish I could get my hands on some JTS Brown BIB. I know it's not top shelf stuff but I've read enough comments here about how good it is that I'd really like to score a bottle. Will be out today on the hunt for another bottle of Handy Rye.

We have several members living in Japan that may want something they can't get in Japan make a trade. So the shipping a little high you'll have a bottle non of your buddies have.

Very cool! I got peeps in the city whom I may see for Christmas who may be able to pick up a bottle for me.

Would you mind posting some tasting notes or at least the barrel codes on the bottle for us? I'd like to know what I might be getting!

While off the beatin path again today, I ran across a few Liters of Old Taylor 86 proof from the early 80's. No question this will be outstanding juice, I really love the "ND" OT!

Good eye, Tony. That bourbon is some of the best ever bottled. Oddly perhaps, it trumps (with later 70's examples) the few OTs I've had from the early 1970's and 60's. I think it was Roger Hodges who pointed out that the butterscotch-fruity palate of 70's and 80's OT seems to stand apart in the history of the brand.

Yes, indeed. Very nice score. The Handy is great, as you would expect. But, that Ezra is one awesome low budget pour. To me, it's what WT 101 used to be.
