I purchased a Weller Antique 107 as a gift for a friend.

The holiday timed release of the Van Winkle line is out down here (seems that there is usually another shipment around the holidays) so I went looking for a PVW 15 for the bunker today. No luck on that, but I did come home with a VWFRR.

Us Bay Area guys (and gal, as well) got together last night. One of the bourbons Neal brought was a 6yo Bourbon Society Willett. It had sparkly, feisty youth in it, like our 4yo of a few years ago, but was satisfyingly a bit more mature and starting to have some oak influence in the mix.

Is this the one you tried as well?

and the Springhurst Liquor Barn in Louisville.

Another road trip yesterday, this time to Binny's South Loop store in Chi-Town.

First I gotta say that they have Jefferson's Presidential Select 17yo on sale for $79.99!

This is my last bourbon purchase of the year.

Yeah, I know, only 19 days until next year, but I gotta slow down.

My goal for next year is to see how few bottles I can buy.

Yet I am already thinking about 4R's annual Spring release of the Barrel Strength.:skep:

I have the 7 year which is one of the two that were done. I also tried another Willett last night that was 7 years old also and it's probably one of the best I've had.

Oscar! Nice haul, my man!

A pair of twins showed up on my doorstep today . . . thought I'd take em in. They're both '87s with TN tax stickers.

I had no idea what to expect and I probably paid too much for these ($10 per) but it does taste pretty good, if not remarkable . . . I think there are things out there that still taste like this. This tastes young and a little hot, but for the most part pretty smooth -- definitely no harshness or burn.

As a side note, if the original VWFRR was indeed Medley distillate I think this shares some of that flavor in a distant cousin sort of way.

On a overnighter business trip today, picked up a Lawrenceburg ORVW 10/90 and an ORWV 15. I then decided to also pick up a BT to sip on in my hotel tonight, and toast my good fortune.

I also saw the WT Tradition 14 yr for the first time. That is one snazzy looking bottle. I showed restraint...for once...and didn't buy it. 60/40 my restraint tanks tomorrow on my way back home, and I pick it up. :crazy:

I just poured a wee bit of the WRMCSOF for my first try and damn this stuff is magnificent. Great nose, somewhat sweet and woody (reminds me of PVW20 somehow), the palate has lots of vanilla and caramel with a very nice rye spice in the finish. The finish is quite long as the burn slowly creeps down into your chest. I could definitely stock up on this one, an instant favorite.

My Father in Law brought a 1.75 of BT and a 375 of OWA stamped 2000 for me from Dallas. And I'm expecting a matching Louisville OWA to arrive shortly.

I paid $67 through a special deal with the store... usually goes for $89

I like it very much... I have to say that now that its had time to breathe I don't get the PVW20 nose anymore but it's really chock full of flavor and well worth getting.
