nor02lei
That's very fortunate that you were able to purchase all those RR 101's from that guy. I hope you enjoy them. And five more ORVW's in the bunker should keep you in good whiskey for quite some time. Have you purchased any Weller 12 or OWA recently? The 2009 bottlings that I bought were very good.I did bay a Weller 12 a few month ago Hank. It taste pretty good I think despite lacking a little proof. I don’t know if it’s bottled 2009 though.Leif
unclebunk
I've had to slow the whiskey purchases due to an announcement at work yesterday that in appreciation of our continued dedication to the company, they will only pay us for 4 days a week starting Nov 1. Gotta love that reciprocity of loyalty shown by corporations these days. That said, I picked up a WT Rye 101 and an Evan Williams black label 1.75. Couldn't pass it up for $18.99 (19.99?).Yesterday the Whiskey Fairy delivered two stunningly beautiful PVW 15. I'm really excited about trying these and will do so soon.On the upside I have a strong lead on a better job and another lead on some good side work. This will be a temporary and modest setback.Good luck on the job lead. Make sure it's reasonably secure though, as the devil you know... My brother recently left a job he had for many years for greener pastures, only to be one of the very first to be let go six months later when things got tough for the company. Now he wishes he had the old job back. Are these your first PVW15's? You're going to absolutely love them, I'm sure. By the way, how does one get a "whiskey fairy" to drop by their house? Do you have to sleep with any empty bottle under your pillow until they appear?

BBQ+Bourbon
Good luck on the job lead. Make sure it's reasonably secure though, as the devil you know... Do you have to sleep with any empty bottle under your pillow until they appear?:grin:Thanks for your concern. A friend of 20 years is in a better position in this company and assures me that they have work for 2-3 years. The company I work for is likely to disappear in six months due to continued mismanagement. I could work for a competitor, but the industry is in decline and will be for a couple years. At this point, I have several options and over the next couple months will determine the best way to go. Today my dad asked why we work in jobs we don't like and offered to fund my dreams..... LOL the Pappy Van Winkle fairy originates in one of the dry Western states which has an esteemed member on this board by some coincidence. I won't reveal his identity because I don't want to invite solicitors for this generous individual. These are indeed my first PVW 15 bottles though I've fallen in love with recent Lot B bottlings and am a notable fiend for Wellers 107 (excepting 08 bottles). I have a PVW 20 from a few years ago I'm holding for my dad's 60th next June.
p_elliott
I got my BTAC the entire collection plus an extra WLW from the fed ex guy. I got the money for this several months ago playing poker at a casino playing 4 card poker, I drew four 4's. 50 to 1 odds Hello bourbon money! nor02lei
I got a parcel from an E-bay guy yesterday. I did win a WT 101 bottled 1981 for only 14 euros. As the low shipping fee of 13 euros vas the same for 2 bottles I did put in an low bid for a red Aalborg (Danish aquavit) and got that for 1 euro. The Turkey had a very reddish collar and I really look forward to taste it.And by the way. Some people talk about the Mac Donald’s index to compare the price level between different countries. I use the shipping index and that indicate Austria to be a very cheap country.Leif
JamesW
While driving through NY State I dropped in on a sweet spot and picked up 1 WLW 2008 and 4 ORVW 10/107's.... I was running low on these...
docbible
Just picked up 3 weller 7yo antique, 3 weller 12yo, and 1 charter PR. I tasted the PR at BT last year and remember it to be a good blended whiskey. It just landed in east TN. I guess the test markets did well. tim

Josh
I picked up a case of the '09 WLW and had breakfast with a couple of great SB'ers.Aw shucks, I'm blushing.I made it home in 1 hr 45 min. I made it home in 2 hrs. but I stopped at a liquor store in Toledo and at the Jerky Outlet in Dundee, MI:grin: Overheard at the liquor store: "Yeah, when a customer comes in here asking for a really good bourbon, I always tell them to get a bottle of Woodford Reserve. That's a really really good one."Anyway, came home full of coffee and gravy with an American Spirit, a bottle of 4R Single Barrel BS 38-6L, Midnight Moon Corn Whiskey and something I couldn't pass up: Old Dan Tucker Diluted Kentucky Bourbon (at a robust 42 proof) from the good people at White Oaks Whiskey Co. of Cleveland, OH. Hondo
I had to drop my daughter at a skate party today. Turns out that the party was just down the street from the Fern Valley Liquor Barn... damn the luck! :cool:I hadn't been in this store for a while so went in to look around and kill some time. BTW, I love this place! I saw WLWSR a new bottle shape / design. Still wearing the age statement though. Also saw their OWA stock in the old bottle with the age statement and looked like they had a lot on hand. Only saw one bottle from the BTAC which was a Handy that they had behind glass. I didn't ask if they had any others.I really didn't need anything but hated to leave empty handy. After all I had been fondling all of the bottles and figured I really should buy something. I had been telling a friend about how good some of the BIB's are so I picked up a VOB BIB as a gift for him. Pretty amazing that you can still get this for $11.99. It is one of the best values in the bourbon world!
OscarV
 a bottle of 4R Single Barrel BS 38-6L, I got a bottle of 4R1B a few weeks ago in C-Town.It is BS 38-6H, I've poured couple now, neat.Floral honey,... this is an excellent bottle.I've not had a standard 4R1B for a long time now, Mr R is staying on top of things I see. ThomasH
Hey Josh, next time you visit Ohio, give me advanced notice and I'll get you a 42 proof Early Times to go with that Dan Tucker. Diluted SoCo is also available here and if you visit closer to the holidays, you might even score some diluted Canadian Club. Like I have stated before, the big O is a bourbon ghetto. Its getting a little better but still has a long way to go!Thomas
