ggilbertva
After a long freakin day and then dinner at my parents house I was beat last night but still managed to sneak in an '83 Old Forester 86pf.

unclebunk
Hit the ER10/101 (twice) and finished up the night with R.E.M.'s remastered first album "Murmur" and a nice glass of ETL. Great night of solitude and splendor.

IronHead
Last night I opend a bottle of Vintage 17 year...not sure how I feel about this one yet. It was oily and thick with a long finish I got tiny hints of chocolate and some leather. Going to have to revisit after it has been open for a day or two. Also I had a pour from a bottle of ORVW 10/107 from around 07 (I think)...At any rate I have been trying to kill this bottle for a while because of its bitter finish...I wound up dumping the glass. My current ORVW 10/107 is much, much better.

sailor22
Now that winter is over ( I HATE that week down here) in Florida. I had a warm wet day sipping today. Started with WTRR101 then some WT 101 from the 70's. Finished with some Old Crow from the 60's.
smokinjoe
EWSB 2000 vintage while hanging out in balmy Florida. It only hit 78 here today.Yeah, where's that finger smilie when you need it...Playing around with a couple of white-dogs. BT Mash #1, Wasmund's Rye Spirit, and some SE KY 'shine. There's something so pleasing about new make. The barrel does so many good things, but taking it right off the still is a very nice change up, and barometer re-setter. The Wasmund's name fits it. It is "spirity". The rye whacks you, as well as a hefty proof at 124. It's very "bright". Cinnamony red-hots, but cooling on the finish. Very tasty. I think this would actually make for a good digestif. The BT is very thick in comparison. The 125 proof is much more subdued than the Wasmund's. But, it is much oilier, richer, and fulfilling. It "feels...."Professional", for lack of a better word. I guess you would expect this with a WD from a distillery like BT. Finally, the Shine holds up well. Surprisingly similar in taste to the BT (the maker tells me it has a fair amount of corn...as well as sorghum, rye, and....oh geeze I don't rightly remember... go figure...) But, it's lacking in the overall richness department. Thinner, compared to the BT, and it has less of the roundness of the BT. However, it certainly is not just alcahol, and definitely not simply a "sugar shine". I have a new bottle of shine from this same maker that I received for Christmas, that he says is better. His "special stash". We'll see. All in all, a nice trio. JamesW
Nice work...it doesn't get much better then that! I guess it really doesn't! Can't do that too often without breaking the bank though.... Tonight it was Margaritas followed by WLW 2009 and ORVW 10/107.
indyrider
Hudson Four Grain...Much better copper palate than the WR4G which tasted like a dirty penny imo....The Hudson starts hot, with a bit of copper still, but finishes with a prolonged spicy molasses burn....Good juice if you can find it! hangten
Tonight some Ridgemont Reserve and ER17. The cork broke off of the RR and I was able to remove all of the cork and remanents by filtering but it has affected it some how. I don't get the nose as it was and it tastes off. The ER17 is much better. I don't need to cut this with water. It's better than the lot B that I had last night.

hectic1
I was on a wheater kick last night! Binny's Weller 12, ORVW 10/90, ORVW 10/107, and Pappy 15! Pappy 15 is hands down the best of the bunch...ORVW 10/107 and Binny's Weller 12 are close...the ORVW 10/90 has too much leather/wood/cloves in it for me. It's amazing how different the 10/107 and 10/90 are...
unclebunk
Hadn't had any rye for quite some time, so I pulled out a bottle of Russell's Reserve Rye and gave it a good knock. It's really terrific stuff and much better than I remembered it to be from a few months ago, when I had been drinking lots of Rittenhouse Rye and felt that the RRR was too smooth and refined by comparison.Last night I was getting lots of delicious spice and pepper, and my friend and I put a severe dent in the bottle. Tonight I'll have a pour of WT Rye for a change of pace.
