nor02lei
Enjoyed an afternoon/evening get together with a friend so we lined up the bottles for some tasting:ORVW 15 yr Single Barrel'91 WT 80 pf'82 Jim Beam White'60s vintage OT 86pf'02 Stagg'91 Bourbon DeLuxe...and a smattering of other things. The 2002 Stagg is the only one I haven’t tasted Greg. Is it really better than the rest, or is that only a nostalgic roomer?Leif
nor02lei
Rittenhouse bib before dinner last night and ORVWFRR K, Fitzgerald 1849 from 73 and OGD 114 after. The Beam brand seemed to hit the spot best yesterday.Leif
spun_cookie
Leif,In head to head, 02-08 stack, it was consistently 3rd to 4th behind the 03, 04 and the KY only 05It is very good, great really, but its down to just a sliver of difference between 1 through 4 in tasting rank. I think there is more separation behind those 4.The 2002 Stagg is the only one I haven’t tasted Greg. Is it really better than the rest, or is that only a nostalgic roomer?Leif

ggilbertva
The 2002 Stagg is the only one I haven’t tasted Greg. Is it really better than the rest, or is that only a nostalgic roomer?LeifLeif,I haven't done a head to head as Emerald has so it's hard to compare to other releases. I will say it was an outstanding pour. Stagg is consistently good year over year and the '02 is one I wish I had in the the bunker, but alas, I must mooch off my friend to enjoy that one. CorvallisCracker
Was at a bar tonight, meeting with one of the guys from Hard Times distillery, discussing my vision for Oregon Whiskey. Ordered a glass of PVW 20 ($20), which I've never had.Always kinda suspected I'd find it too woody. It wasn't. Damn, now I want to buy a bottle. OR price is $101, which is more than I've ever spent on a bottle of booze.Decisions, decisions.

SMOWK
I am currently sharing a small cyber glass of VOB BiB with floating_fast after an intense facebook discussion. Unemplyment has its privailages. I've heard so much about VOB BIB in this forum that I've gone to great lengths to get my local distributor to get some. They said they could only "special order" it. Just so I didn't have to go through this again for a while, I ordered a 12 pack. At $103, I don't think I'll be disappointed. But If I am, there will be some damn near free bottles of VOB BIB for "sale".

MrAtomic
Continuing the Binny's hand-picked trend, I've been enjoying a bottle of their Four Roses Single Barrel (OBSK). It's right up my alley, whether taken neat, with a bit of water, over ice, or in a Manhattan.
