Since I can't seem to stop trying to find new things to try, today I picked up the following:

VOB BIB

4RSB

At a different store, I also managed to find another couple of bottles of ORVW 10/107 which I had been looking for, but at $59.99 a bottle, I figure I'll check back on them next year and see if anybody's bothered to buy them. BTAC was a "bargain" at $99.99 a piece. Note to self: Don't visit said store again.

Good grief, I hope you weren't purchasing those in VA. It's sick that the ORVW goes for that much. I remember paying around $30 just a couple years ago.

I couldn't stand it. :skep: I went back to the store I was at yesterday and picked up a bottle of Lot B, and a bottle of VWFRR. Glad I'm heading home tomorrow. I hear that Pappy 20 taunting me. :slappin: Joe

I was going to ask you if you were in chat tonight how you could pass up that PVWFRR.:smiley_acbt: I'm glad you came to your senses and went back and got it.

You don't like ryes, so why hoard?

You're getting into the ryes?:skep: Thought you had settled into a wheater only kind of guy. Must have been giving me that bottle of Saz, having a taste and remembering that ryes are good stuff as well. Too bad, I'm not giving it back.

By the way, I think I may have an idea as to what you can bring down Wednesday night

 No I'm not getting into ryes. I just know the scarcity of the VWFRR, so I thought I'd grab one while I could.

My wife and I had a great weekend. We visited a nice cozy winery, went through a lot of neat specialty/antique shops, had a fantastic time at the big band jazz concert Saturday night, and brought home some good stuff. Stopped at a few places on the way home today and found a lot of good stuff, but only bought another bottle of 09 WLW and two bottles of Weller 12. Since it was on the way home I had to stop at Everett's. That was where I got the Weller 12. Below is a pic of my haul for the weekend.

From left to right:

Two bottles of 09 WLW

One bottle of ERSB 10/90

One bottle of VWFRR

One bottle of Lot B

Two bottles of Weller 12

Four bottles of wine from The Cedar Creek winery in Cedarburg Wisconsin

Like I said, we had a great weekend. Good music, good food and good times. Joe

Grabbed some good stuff at Julio's for 15% off today! Got 2 ORVW 10/107 (gonna give this one another shot -- 3rd time's the charm), 1 Lot 'B', 2 Julio's SB Baby Saz, a 2009 OFBB & an Old Crow Reserve for kicks (it was $10 and I will try anything, especially if I've never seen it before).

Also picked up an ETL on Saturday night.

Couldn't resist but need to stock up, especially more SW juice.

2 - PVW LotB at $49

1 - ORVW 10 - 107 at $39

2 - PVW 20 at $99

My first pour of ORVW 10-107 does appear not quite as good as before. Maybe after it is allow to breath, it should open up.

Cheers

--Hugh

Tell old Everett I say Hi!

Nice haul Joe. What varieties are those wines? I love winery vacations, even weekends, me.

This afternoon I stumbled across 5 bottles of Four Roses 1B. NC only brings this in for the holiday season. I bought all 5 for the bunker.

I picked up another bottle of EWSB 00, barrel #16. This barrel is the best EWSB I have ever had.

Went high and low. GTS 2006 and JB 7yr old Distillers Series. $60 for the GTS and only $8 for the JB.

I've found that the 2000 in general is the best EWSB I've had.

I've got some of the barrel 16. Good stuff, but a bit of burn.

Have you looked at the barreling and bottling dates?

Went in to get a bottle of EWSB at $22, which is good around my parts, but ended up grabbing a bottle of Buffalo Trace 90proof.

Never had it before, so it will be a new adventure for me.

Hunting down in Houston with Doubleblank proved to be fun and worth the trip:

2 1.75L OWA 99 @ #32 each

3 Pewter Top WTKS @ $29.59 each

1 Liter ER101 NO @ $26.00

1 OCPR @35.00

1 WTRR 101 @ 25.00

by far and away the WTKS were the deal of the day/week/year IMO. I bought all they had...:)

I agree! The bottle I have open is from barrel No. 31, barreled on 03-30-00 and bottled on 10-14-09.
