...Hit the Red Key Tavern...

Last time I was there I was caught breaking rule 9. I had my back to the wall with legs resting on the booth seat. I knew there were rules against coats on the backs of chairs, cursing, credit cards, etc., but I guess I should have reviewed the list more carefully. Never stand at bar???

I bet they let Kurt Vonnegut slide.

Let us know next time you're coming down!

Unfortunately we did not, but we got in some good eatin' and drinkin' nevertheless. Hit the Rathskeller, The Red Key Tavern, The Slippery Noodle, Le Peep and Bazbeaux's. So we did all right  .

Yeah, it sound like you did ok !!!!

Let me know next time you are in town..... I'd love to drag on your coat tails .

We were on a tight schedule this weekend, but next time I'm in town I'll let y'all know. June is a possibility, but don't quote me on that. But with the impending baby, I'm sure I'll be in Indianapolis a lot in the next year.

ERSB, I think is how the shorthand goes. Very nice, easy on the tongue, short finish.

Picked up another bottle of Four Roses Yellow Label today after knocking off my FRSB last night. My last bottle of Yellow Label was a bit astringent-tasting for some reason, so I'm hoping for better this time around.

Picked up a few Van Winkle SW 1/2 pints:

1 x Old Fitzgerald 1849 bottled in 1972

2 x WL Weller Special Reserve bottled in 1972

3 x Very Old Fitzgerald bottled in 1969

I really wish the 1849 was bottled before 1972. From what I've read, prior to the sale of SW, it was a 10 year old. Very Old Fitzgerald has been one of my holy grail bourbons so I am excited I got my hands on some.

Thanks to TheDon for inadvertently helping me get these. He put a craigslist link in the Dusty Finds thread. I had never thought about looking on craigslist for bourbon before, and sure enough, these were posted just a few hours before I searched for them.

Based on John Hansell's review, picked up a Caribou Crossing.

i hit a couple of random liquor stores at lunch today just to see if there was anything interesting that i cant find at all the usual stores. i found myself face to face with a bottle of Wathen's. so i grabbed that baby off the shelf and made straight for the cashier. i cant wait to get home tonight and give it a taste!

That's some nice juice. Let us know what you think about it after you've had tonight's pour(s). I thoroughly enjoyed my bottle but haven't been able to find one since!

I did fetch a big parcel from the post office today. It was from a small German online store. I have had partly bad experience from this guy before as he have shipped me the wrong bottles. No problem this time though. His box did contain a mix of ORVW 10 and 15 in the fat bottle. All bottles had 02

stamped at the bottom. Very long since I have bought any of those fat ORVW bottles..

I say it all the time. The 10, if it's 107proof, is some of the best whiskey I've ever had. It never lets me down. Although sometimes I get a bottle that seems to be a lot better than the others. I can't complain.

I've only tried the ORVW15 in a squat bottle once. For my Mother & Father in law's 30th wedding anniversary. It was spectacular.

ENJOY!

Well on my way home tonight I stopped in a small store and ran across (2) Old Fitz 10 yr 101's from the 70's. Only one of these I've seen in person was good old OscarV's bottle so I opened one on my arrival home...Wow! Thick on the tongue with caramel, just good SW juice!

Cheers!

I bought a lot in Houston...unfortunately about a third of it got broken by go old FedEx in transit...:(

While I'm excited for what made it here I'm sick to my stomach at what was lost...2 handles of NO ER101, 1 handle of 2000 W12, 5 375's of Louisville OWA 95, 1 RR101, and 1 OGD 86 Proof 8 year 1989.

I was able to get home 1 Pewter top WTKS, 2 RR101, 2 375's OWA 95, 1 Liter OWA 95, 1 Weller Cent, 2 Gold Wax ETL, 1 WTAS, 1 WT Tribute, 1 AH Hirsch Gold Foil, 1 OFBB 2002, 1 OFBB 2007, 1 2005 Weller 12, 1 WT101 8 year 1985, 1 liter WT101 8 year Export, and 4 liters of ER101 Frankfort...

It was a good haul but it would have been great had I not lost over $200 worth of FANTASTIC bourbon in shipping...:(

Did I mention that I'm sick to my stomach reading my post? I've never had anything break in shipping...I can't believe that FedEx could destroy all those bottles...I think that one probably broke and when they opened the box someone decided to help themselves to my bourbon! On top of it, I can't even claim it as the contents aren't approved for shipping.
