Was up in southern Wisconsin today. On the way back, Gary and I stopped at a few places. Picked up a 98 Weller SR, and a Lot B. Joe

Just came home from Scotland where I picked up a 13 year old Heaven Hill Single Cask botteled by Cadenhead's. Looking forward to popping it open!

Nothing!

But I tried.

Last week I ordered the MM 46 from my friendly retailer and his delivery did not include it.

But according to the MI book it's available.

There is some Tom Moore BiB '96 at a store not too far from my house that I've been reluctant to try, but it's priced pretty fair ($11.99 for a liter), so I decided to pick one up and give it a go. This stuff is actually pretty rare around here, I think, at least I never see it, so that's another reason I wanted to try it while I can still find it. I'll open it after I kill off a bottle of Jeffersons that a friend gave me.

Today my presents to myself were:

WLW 2009

Pappy 15

Lot B

4 4Roses 120th

2 OWA NAS

I popped open the WLW 2009 and it's lovely. I think that's my favorite of the BTAC and such a pain to get ahold of.

The 4 Roses 120th hit me right in the wheelhouse the first time I had it at the Gazebo in 2009. I had a chance to confirm that fact again this spring so I jumped at the chance to secure my own stash.

OWA NAS is my favorite daily drinker, but I can't get it here so have to stock up when I can.

Overall a very BT heavy haul but I'm ok with that.

Decided to go take my first dusty hunting trip. Here's what I landed:

(1) GD BHC

(2) VSOF BHC

(2) OFBB S 03

(2) EWSB 96

(2) EWSB 97

(2) EWSB 98

(1) EW 1783 Liter w/AS

(3) EW 1783 375ml w/AS

(2) EW 1783 200ml w/AS

(2) EC 18 Barreld on 7-29-80

(2) OC 10 1.75ml 95 Louisville

(2) OGD 114

(1) Old Barton 1.75ml

Sorry for crappy cell phone pics. Can't seem to locate my camera.

Was very pleased to get the EWSBs. Now I have 94-00. Still work to be done, but making progress. Got the EC 18s for $30 each. Never had the OFBB before, and scored those @ $23 each. ODG and Barton not available in NC so I wanted to give those a try. And started to work on the BHCs. Passed up a lot of dark wood WTKS in hopes of landing a PT. No such luck. May venture back out to land a few of the dark wood tops soon.

All in all, very fun. I can see where this could get addictive.

That EC 18 is probably older than 18 years, 20 maybe 21 years old.

There was discussion about it in another thread.

Today I brought home a current VOB BiB, a 1988 handle of 86 proof Old Grand Dad, and a 1992 Old Grand Dad BiB.

I also splurged on a bottle of absinthe. I think it will be a nice summer evening drink.

Probably not rare where you are, but I got a bottle of W L Weller 7 yo 90 proof the other day. I almost never seen Weller on the shelf. It was a good price too, 1580 yen. Not Van Winkle, but a nice wheater. It was my bourbon on a camp out weekend before last. I will definitely buy it again when I am over that way.

The other day I finally broke down and bought an OWA NAS. I opened in chat and agree with others that have said it's an improvement over the previous couple of years. Very tasty!

This is both good and bad for the bourbon industry it's good as it promotes growth in the industry. Bad because they can't keep up with the growing demand. When they can't keep up they have a history of cutting corners like age and proof on the bourbons we like.

That's a nice package to receive. Just promise you won't share with any of your friends.....we don't need them getting hooked on bourbon as well.

Stumbled upon a Wild Turkey 12 yr Split Label today, while out. When I got in the car, the outside thermometer read 101. Coincidence?!?!? :skep:
