Josh
I tried watching some of the early college football games today, but non-conference schedules being what they are, I quickly got bored. So I went back to watching Once Upon a Time in the West on TiVo. I know this movie is 40 y/o old but it's still shocking to see Henry Fonda play such an evil character.Anyway, yeah, the bourbon. I though some dusty Old Forester would go very well with movie and the brats we had for lunch. And it does.

SBOmarc
After a good job done on a pretty nice tailgating event, on a day I cooked in temps of 103 in the sun...Jim Beam Black on ice. Did I mention it was hot here today?
nor02lei
I had WT 12 export and OFBB 2004 before dinner yesterday. Then after going to a big music and firework festival traditional held early September here in my town I had WRMCSO before bedtime. The last one really found the spot for sure.Leif
unclebunk
Had a few pours of Woodford Reserve last night that really hit the spot. Nothing exciting or complex, just a nice sweet taste after a delicious dinner.
cigarnv
Few pours of 4R's small batch while I waited for my beef clod to come off the smoker..... MJL
Killed my 1.75l bottle of Echo Springs last night. I was checking out at Liquor Barn in Louisville when I saw a table of extra special bargains near the check out. Picked this bottle up for $16 and let me tell you, for $16 this was not a bad deal. This is not great bourbon but one must drink the range to understand when great bourbon is presented to you. It did make a nice bourbon sour and that is how I drank it with the exception of those few glasses I took straight to create notes on Echo Springs. I placed a bottle of Old Crow Reserve on the bar to tonight's bourbon. More on how that turns out later...
rocky480
After a couple of whiskey sours with dinner last night (made with Beam white label - I know, I know, but the goal here was to get rid of the sour mix that my wife opened but doesn't plan on using any time soon), I had some OGD 114 to go with my cigar and then finished off my open bottle of Booker's. Halifax
I worked on a few bottles last night that had one or two pours left. Finished of bottles of BT, OGD BIB, KC and an EWSB 97. Fortunately I have several of these 97s bunkered.

It is what it is; plain bourbon for a good price. Sometimes, indeed, often, that is all I want and need.
BBQ+Bourbon
I sampled the new green wax Willetts last night and had just a sip of 2006 Birthday Bourbon just now. I need to sand some drywall and am doing everything I can to avoid the task.Nice stuff, all around.

ILLfarmboy
I had a couple pours of Boolers from a freshly opened bottle this afternoon; 8 years, 9 months @ 126. It had been in the back of my cabinet for a couple years. I had intended to use some in place of vanilla extract in my home made ice cream. I ended up going half GTS and half vanilla extract. Gillman
Whistle Pig, courtesy my friend G Hodder. This was very interesting and very good. Interesting in that it didn't really taste like any other straight rye I've had, being less aromatic and not as "barrely", with a fine concentrated flavor. The new charred barreling was evident, but in a restrained, elegant way. There was a perfumed note which I think comes from the rye content (100% rye). Also tasted, High West 21 year old rye whiskey, a rye mash aged in re-used cooperage. Somewhat similar to the Whistle Pig in its perfumed and elegant quality but with some "fresh wood" notes in the finish showing the effects of the used barrels. Top quality again. This shows that some of the so-called rye flavouring whiskies are excellent on their own.Gary
cigarnv
Enjoyed a beautiful evening with a few friends drinking through the last 4 Willets bottlings Doug did... 2 17yo's and 2 18yo's. One of the 17yo's tipped the proof scales at over 148!These are all very nice picks by the "dog" that clearly reflect his style... older, mature whiskies that lean a bit heavier to the wood. Great complexity and finish. I liked the lower proof 18yo's while others leaned towards the higher proof 17's.
