OGB BIB. This bottle tastes better now that's been open for a week or so....

Went to Destin, FL with a little birthday money and picked up Maker's 46, Willett Reserve and Yamazaki 12yo.

Picked up the last 2 WTRR101 at the bottleshop, looks like this label is done and dusted here in Aus :( 25% off made it all the sweeter :)

I had a little birthday money burning a hole in my pocket, so I went shopping yesterday, thinking I might pick up MM46. I saw it, but at $35-40, I decided on a few more unique bottles that I had yet to try. I got:

EWSB 2000 - Specially selected for Bourbon Street Wine & Spirits Barrel #2, Barreled 5-17-2000, Barrel No. 613, Bottled 5-4-2010. I like that since there's no age statement, they didn't have to wait 2 weeks just to call it 10 years old. I've enjoyed a few earlier vintages, so I had to try this one.

Henry McKenna SB 10yo BIB Barrel #536, Barreled 4/8/99. Pretty bottle, but how do I open this? I'm not sure, but it looks like it might be a screw top under the green foil. Based on some comments here, I'm sure I'll be praising Craig and Parker Beam again.

OFBB 2008 in the 'new' (temporary) glass. Since it was just my birthday, this continues the theme. Many here have claimed this is one of the better BBs and the only OF I ever tried was Repeal.

Bourbon Street Wine & Spirits also had "specially selected" bottles of ER10 (that listed warehouse, rick, and barrel number) and Knob Creek (barrel #319 - the first single barrel KC?). Those are 2 brands I have enjoyed in the past so I may go back for those.

The Old Forester Repeal 375ml set with glencairn type glass now down to $7.99 in a local store and (oh man this hobby is gonna put me in divorce court) how could I resist the 06 WLW at $59 just standing there all by its lonesome self. The kicker is this place is about 1 mile from my house, I go by it every day and had never gone in before, assuming it was the typical small store limited to overpriced Jack, Jim and Turkey.

Maker's 46...with all the recent feedback on this bottle I had to get one to try out. Hopefully it's lives up to the expectations! :)

Okay so it's 96 degrees and I don't have a pool or boat so I can justify my adding a MM 46 to the above today also.

Picked up a couple of regulars this week...ho hum, but, was gifted a Liquor Barn Blanton's from my Brother in Law. Besides being a terrific bourbon, and besides my BOL being very generous as always...the cool thing is that it's an "S" topper. My set is now competed!! Now, I have to figure out where I'm going to display them. Any suggestions????

Well, I couldn't resist. Bourbon shopping is highly addictive. I was near the main store of Bourbon Street Wine & Spirits (there are 7 stores in the area). I picked up their specially selected ERSB 10/90. This has an extra label on the side stating: warehouse C, floor 4, rick 57, barrel #319, bottling date 5/25/10.

I wonder if it's just a coincidence that this store's SB of KC is also barrel #319?

Two things about this visit I must mention. The cashier told me how good this bottle is with a few drops of water as she just tasted it the day before. I'm glad they encourage educating the staff even if she looked barely old enough to drink.

The best thing was seeing Red Stag shelved & displayed AWAY from the whiskey aisle, next to Jägermeister and Southern Comfort, not far from WT American Honey and Seagram's 7 Dark Honey. At least some of them understand.

Skipped Montana all together.. bad timing on my part... found these though:

5 06 GTS

4 07 WLW

2 06 WLW

2 06 Saz18

1 06 Handy

3 OT BIB quarts

6 OT BIB pints (I drank one already)

3 Yellowstone liters from '84

None of the BTAC were over $60. Some were even $50. Passed on some 07 GTS for $45.

A special thanks to Bob and my brother for scouting for me.

My cousin was in Watkins Glen this past weekend for the wine festival and he was nice enough to cruise by Finger Lakes Distilling for me and pick up some items.

I will be sampling their Glen Thunder corn and McKenzie rye later this evening. As craft distillers go, their prices are reasonable and they sell you more whiskey than the other guys. The corn is 90 proof, the rye is 91 and both come in 750ml bottles, not 375's.

I will be bringing samples of both to the gazebo in September.

I bought the rye recently too and will be interested in your comments, Scott.

I went to Cincinnati Saturday and stopped by Party Source, where I picked up an AAA single barrel. Did they do more than one of these, or have they just not sold out yet? It wasn't on the shelf section with their other custom bottles; it was down on the next-to-the-bottom with the other Ancient Age.

Boy did I find trouble. At a certain price point your hooked. How do you walk away especially when the honey hole is out of town. The second pick is from when I discovered this store. Was not prepared so one 09 Stag for 51$ and one WLW for 55$ made the journey home. This time I was prepared to do some damage. The first pic....

2 Handy's 63$ (Probably average price)

2 GTS 08...55$

1 WLW 09..55$

1 PVW 15...43$

1 Lot B......36$

1 Reserve Rye...34$

1 ORVW 107...33$ (Ok)

1 OC BHC .....27$

For Hou area I felt these were priced for purchasing. It was a good time to acquire some high end bourbons at a fair price...so I thought.
