Went to a business meeting that ended early and lo! near the place was a liquor store I'd not been in before. They were having a sale.

--Sazerac Rye (looking forward to trying this one)

--Jim Beam Black

--EWSB 2000

--BT (since I found out here that bourbon doesn't change in the bottle, it seems perfectly reasonable to have a "back stash" just in case...of anything.)

And I may go back and get a better look at what I'm told are "dusties", including some Van Winkle Lot B and a couple of other things that looked interesting.

Cordially,

Trace T.

Frugal McDougal's had the Charter 101 handles for 9.99 and Four Roses yellow handles for 14.99 so I bought all the had of each. Six cases in all. They were closing them out.

Wow, 4RYellow handles for 14.99 is quite the deal. What was the total after tax?

Boy did I find trouble. At a certain price point your hooked. How do you walk away especially when the honey hole is out of town. The second pick is from when I discovered this store. Was not prepared so one 09 Stag for 51$ and one WLW for 55$ made the journey home. This time I was prepared to do some damage. The first pic....

2 Handy's 63$ (Probably average price)

2 GTS 08...55$

1 WLW 09..55$

1 PVW 15...43$

1 Lot B......36$

1 Reserve Rye...34$

1 ORVW 107...33$ (Ok)

1 OC BHC .....27$

For Hou area I felt these were priced for purchasing. It was a good time to acquire some high end bourbons at a fair price...so I thought.

I was able to find one lonely 09 WLW today so I'm happy. I just killed one last week so now I can open another.

Good score Dude, this is a case of the Bourbon Gods paying you back for popping open that Centennial last Sat.;)

Yeah man, that works out well. I have been resisting drinking that Weller Cent this week because once I get the taste in my mouth it starts disappearing pretty quickly.

I'm glad you got to drink some of that, I know it makes you happy.

Since getting my money refunded on the Bernheim Barrel purchase Reid and Emerald were doing through KBD I had a little money to spend on hunting and hit a nice little honey hole in St. Paul with a Gold Wax Hirsch, Foil Hirsch, 2003 Eagle Rare 17, 2003 Sazerac 18 and 2 x 2003 George T Staggs. A much better use of my money.

Particularly of interest was the fact that the Gold Wax Hirsch was in the green tinted bottles that the original blue wax Hirsch was in. This gives me hope that this is perhaps an earlier bottling that and that the bourbon inside would closer to the original bw stuff I love.

Finally had things break my way on ebay last night. WTAS for $56. Add $20 for shipping and subtract $27 in ebay bucks to bring it home for under $50.

Seems like WTAS is a "love it or hate it" type bottling, from what I've been able to glean from comments here and elsewhere but at this price, it's a risk well worth taking.

Great score there...I love it at under $50 a bottle! Congrats and enjoy!

I like it, but I don't think it'as any better than WTRB (a favorite of mine) and therefore not worth 2.5X the price of the RB.

but at this price [under $50], it's a risk well worth taking.

Fer sure!

Virginia ABC was doing a closeout on WT KS for $26 so I grabbed a few of those as well as a Bushmills 1608 special 400th Anniv. bottling for $40.

I saw some Knob Creek today for only $18.98 (normal price in these parts is about $26), so I picked up a bottle.

A bottle of regular Makers Mark. Decided to beat the $3 price hike coming in August.

Taking Reid's sage like information, I too purchaced a Bushmills 1608. $42 out the door.

Nice price Jake...I'm not really into Irish Whiskey but I'd probably buy one at that price too! :)
