I passed on a raft of overpriced Van Winkle today. Lot B for 70.00, Rye 90.00, 20yo 160.00, 10/90 46.00, 10/107 50.00...

At those prices, they will be there a very long time.

At those prices I would have passed them up too

Yea, there is a place near me that still had 3 bottles of Lot B for $45 that I have been passing on since I already have 7 bottles of it. I pick it up still if I find it for $40 or less but I just don't really feel the need to add any more at $45 as that's the standard price around here. At $70 I would be passing all day even if I had 0 bottles.

At $45 it would be in my hands. I think it is $55 in MI and hard to find at that.

Yea, the thing is that I already have 7 and come this fall I will be able to get a case at $45 if I wanted so there is really no urgency to snap them up. The last bottle I got was $38.99 I think and while I wasn't looking to buy any more Lot B right now I wasn't going to pass on that price. That was actually bottle #8 now that I think about it.

I saw a single bottle of the new version Old Taylor from BT. I actually thought I'd never see one in person. $79.99 + tax is just too much for me to spend for something that's ok, but priced high (as a novelty at this point). I can't wait to see their regular production OT.

Passed up a Lot B in favor of a EWSB 1994.

Never had a 1994 before but it seems to be a favorite on SB.

Passed up some OWA's that I wasn't sure about: label said "Louisville", but they were not gold-threaded. UPC was 88076, which I think was sort of an in-between UPC before the arrival at BT. They were $25.

You should grab those Tom...not all OWA's were in GV bottles...anything Weller that says Lville on it is a buy IMO. :)

Bob, thanks for that. I may try to get back there. It was in a... Let's say, "remote" area of NYC, and I didn't make good notes of where I was (I was with my 4 year old son). But I think I can figure it out.

I passed on some tasty bottles yesterday. Just too rich for my blood... EWSB 94 @ $42.99 & WTAS 15 @ $109.95. Ouch!

Pint of ER 101 (NOLA) for $25. Some of the 2005 OF Bithdays, one of the 2003s. Several OWA 7/107 (Frankfort) early in my hunting in hopes I would find some more of the Weller Cent I did buy.

Last week when I was visiting Conyers, GA, I passed up numerous handles of OF, OWA, VOB, Bulleit bourbon and rye, and anything else over $30.

I only WISH I could find that kind of selection in CNY.

Actually I am of the opposite opinion.

And most folks I've talked to about it agree that Tradition is better than American Spirit.

So what was that Tradition going for?

Think I'm going to be passing on the recent shipment of JPS 18 a local store got in. I just haven't heard enough good talk about it, to pull the trigger. A side conversation with another member cemented this decison for me also. Thanks man!!

Unless anybody else can give some good counter points to this, its staying.

Beside, the fall BT release is just around the corner!

Sigman's Bottle Shop?

Yep! They had the best selection of everything that I've ever seen anywhere.

They also had a bottle of "The Fox" for $12 or $14 IIRC. I was pretty limited in what I could buy since I was flying back in a couple days.

I have been walking around upper east Manhattan today and have passed up a number of things I can't get in Texas. Although, I will probably go back and pick up a few before I leave :)

Vintage Rye 21

Vintage Rye 23

Wild Turkey 12 (gold label? Haven't seen it before)

AH Hirsch 16 gold foil top (they wanted $200!)

Old Charter Proprietor's Reserve (stumpy bottle)

Black Maple Hill Small Batch

Black Maple Hill 16yr

William Larue Weller

Thomas H Handy

I am really tempted to get the VR21...

Haha! I am just trying to get the full picture before I decide on what all to pick up. Still plan on visiting a handful of more stores. The WT12 sounds quite promising.

I am very jealous that I don't have anywhere near this selection at home

Just past this up too this weekend, the store had seven of them all lined up on the shelf. I about choked when I saw that many in one place.

These were price at $104 and change.

And not in a store or town even that i would think would have them. Especially just that many in one.

What did I pass up?? While running some errands getting the new house set up I stopped by a provider of adult beverages to get some margarita mix and naturally took a look at the bourbon selection. Since this move is about to drain the bank account I passed on....

6 GTS

6 WLW

5 ER17

4 THH

4 Saz

The folks here must not know good bourbon if it has been sitting on the shelf this long. Can't wait for the wife to start working  so I can lay in a little stock!
