I have found that bottles of LotB made after 2008 have been sub-par for the label. I have been through two of them now. I put both of them next to a Weller 12 from 2008, and the Weller 12 has won both times.

My first Lot B came from this past Spring allocation. I've tasted through two bottles, trying to find the love; couldn't find it. It's not offensive, but I really found it had nothing to offer me.

Then I was blown away by the ORVW 10/107. So much more of a mouthful compared to LotB's thin 94 proof. I hope to score a few of these in the coming weeks when Chicago finally gets their allocation.

I've never really been all that impressed with Lot B, frankly. Maybe it is slightly better than standard Weller 12, but even when Lot B was easier to find, Weller 12 was half the price and the Old Rip 107 was at least $10 cheaper and higher proof.

First let me say that I love them both, as well as the 10/107, but my fall 2011 experience had lot B in northern Ky priced higher than Pappy 15 in Ohio (75+tax vs 70.85 including tax) . While I am ecstatic that Ohio finally got some VW, I'd have liked to have seen some lot B in addition to the small allocation of 15.

So we did get some. Huh.

I'm off the Lot B. What Josh said vs. the 12 is about where I'm at with it. I have had some great bottles of it, but I found it much more interesting around the $40 mark, I'm not interested at all at the $50 level where it's priced now.

It might be worth your while to drive to Ontario. As of today, there is quite a bit of Lot B spread across the province (most of it in and around Toronto). And unbelievably, it's priced lower than what you found in northern KY (C$71.95 incl. tax). I thought that was high.

I'm usually paying about $40 to $45 and that's about my upper limit for that one.

Here in AL there is no distributor through Pappy themselves, the ABC get's their own then distributes to the local mom and pop stores. There are only two here in town I know that sell it, one they have not received them yet. The other had a small allocation of 12, 15 and 20. The 20's sold for $159, however they were selling both the 12 AND the 15 for $139. I laughed on the phone and said ya gotta be kidding me. People bought them here in Huntsville.

Weller 12 = $25 (at most)

Considering that Lot B *is* Weller 12, albeit "honey picked" it's hard to imagine paying a 5x+ price premium... I think it's steep at $45.

About the same here in TX... 12 is cheaper than 107 but our 107 tends to be a bit higher ($26-$27) and our Weller 12, too ($22-$23)

It is good. WSR exhibits the sweet Weller flavors without as much oak as OWA or 12. It's like candy compared to the other two.

They (BT) claim that OWA and WSR are the same stock, just different proofs. I've never bothered to buy WSR because of that.

I've got a Binny's hand-picked WSR that's outstanding. It could use the extra proof for sure, but in this instance, it's terrific!

That said, it was hand-picked as a OWA, but BT over-watered it (messed up the order) and it became a WSR - so your theory, based on that experience, is 100% correct (same juice, different proof in the bottle).

Most standard WSR's are good (and cheap), but I'd spring the extra few bucks for the OWA - it's just better at 107

Initially, I didn't care for the WSR, especially compared the OWA. Nowadays, I really enjoy both.
