What Bourbon did you purchase today? - Winter 2010/11

Went shopping today,but prices seemed high. A.H. Hirsch 16yo at $400, Pappy 23yo at $230, Lot B at $55 and ORVW 10/107 at $42. I settled on a 2010 OFBB at $34. I bought an ORVW 10/90 last week for $29 and, as much as I wanted the 107, I thought $42 was too much.

Just a thought, but whenever I'm bourbon shopping and I see a bottle of something I love, such as ORVW 10/107 or Lot B, at a price higher then I normally would want to pay for it I have to ask myself two questions: What will the average price of this bottle cost only a few years from now, and will I be kicking myself for not picking up that Lot B for $55 when I had the chance?

Ryan when I found myself in that position in the past I let it go but now I buy it. Just precaution on my part learned from experience. Yellowstone was there then gone, Eagle Rare 10yr 101 was stacked on the shelves and not too long later was not available.

Did some work in Franklin, KY Monday. Finished early enough to run up to Bowling Green. Only had about $60 on me for bourbon (still recovering from Christmas and the wife's b-day is coming up). Picked up a Weller 12 yo and a bottle of Wathen's. We don't get the Weller 12 in my neck of the woods. I was surprised to find it @ $18.99. Of the low to mid $30s bottles I had to pick from, I know the least about Wathen's. I hope this bottle isn't a bust.

I agree. A neighboring counties liquor stores carry the Lot B for $35 and the Pappy 15 for $39. If/when they get the PVW15 in, I'll be making a run to pick some up.

They had no Pappy 15, I wanted one because it will soon be like Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer.

I picked up a bottle of Bond and Lillardbourbon. 80 proof, 4 yo. Has an old seal on it. Couldn't find much info online except that the label seems to have been acquired by beam at some point. I left another, should I go get it? Any idea how old this could be, I can post a pic when I get home.

Also got russells r 10 and ec12.

I for the life of me have never seen a VWFRR in a store and its never touched these lips. Wish I were this lucky, seen them all but that. Is it a smaller distribution or only in certain states? If anyone has the best way of going at it.

I had used the search feature and read the VWFRR thread. My bottle must be numbered B2109 bottled in Frankfort, but the B sure looks like an 8, ergo my confusion. In the future, I'll try to search the forums before I ask a dumb question again.

Not a dumb question by any stretch, but a forum search is a good plan. This thread is #15,000+ since the site began, so you can only imagine what has been discussed over time.

This place is chock full of information and some of it is even accurate.

Check the "SW All Gone" thread on the Premium board. It's a little confusing but it appears that the current source for the Pappys (15, 20 and 23) is on the verge of depletion, the 15 year being the first to dry up. Don't want to spread misinformation so I'll stop there.

Anyhow, I see you're an Aub (no disrespect). I'm a Bama fan from way down near the FL line so I can stretch into FL when I want something not available in AL. Where are you located? Oh, and I can take a little good-natured ribbin'. Some of my best friends are Aubs. Congrats on Auburn's season.

That is a good price and a bargain, Barton, at least now, is one of the last good deals on a 'company' whisky.
