Pappy 15 (2 bottles). Might grab 2 more Friday

Lot B

WTKS

Not following your sig.

Does this mean you are a follower of the late Ayatollah Mousawi Khomeini?

I suppose it's your way of saying that your are for another Revolution.

Sorry for the threadjack, weird sig for a board centered on alcohol.

Just a handle i have used for years. Will explain in a welcome message.

Nothing to fear. Worked in Iran for awhile. Clearly I am not a supporter of the theocratic dictatorship currently in power, as evidenced by my presence on an alcohol-themed board.

Cheers for the interest.

Right, I was just having a hard time rectifying the two.

Welcome aboard. No fear here, just curiosity.

man, your hunts never cease to impress me! all that WTAS for $65 each?! i can still get it around here but i have to pay $80 - at that price, i won't add to my bunker (love the WTAS but i have other juice i need to get). and finding the VWFRR right now?! WOW!! btw, how are all the people on this thread finding Pappy or ORVW and BTAC on shelves this late? in houston, the pappy's go FAST.

I passed on previous opportunities of WTAS for the very same reason; price. The store that had these on the shelf clearly had them for some time because the one bottle on display had a thick coating of dust on it. Also, I stopped at this particular store on a whim. It was a dumpy roadside joint, part liquor store, part run down motel. The Van Winkle I had to call around to about 10 different stores before I found one that had some of the FRR. The Paddy, well, I love Irish Whiskey and up until last year was only sold overseas. It's a solid Irish blend and for $27, it was a steal.

Not exactly today but the results of my recent trip to Chicago.

Mariage 08' & 09', per Oscar's recommendation, the 4R SBBS OBSK & OBSV. The Weller 12 yr and Ritt BiB cannot get locally.

Three EC18s, 02/18/1992. I've seen the 1992 EC18s get some good marks around these parts, so I'm hoping I just scored myself a nice little stash of some wonderful bourbon...:woohoo:

Yesterday I purchased a handle of Wild Turkey 80 bottled in '89.

I usually don't go for the much of anything under 100 proof, but I don't recall ever trying any dusty WT80 so I'm going to give it a try.

I was in Tampa today, lost my mind, and spent my next three months booze allotment. Here is the bourbon portion of todays purchase:

The negative part of todays purchase is that I won't be able to buy anything but beer until May.

From the looks of it, you won't regret it.

Today I found a Pappy 20yo and a Lot B at good prices ($69.99 and $32.99), so I bought them. It wasn't until I got out to my car and had a closer look at the bottles that I discovered they are from Lawrenceburg. The back label on the 20yo has a picture of Pappy completing the 18th hole of a golf course with his canine caddy named Buck.

While I was at this store I also saw an old decanter of White Bison, so I just did a search and look what I found..

This must be the same store, and I guess the owner never did keep the other VW's for himself and still never raised the price either. If I were Todd, I would have tried going back for them later. Too bad the Pappy 15 for $29.99 wasn't still there.

I thought the 'Pappy playing golf' back label was only on older bottles, because I hadn't noticed it before. But I just checked and saw that my current Frankfort bottling that I recently bought has the same back label. Oh well.

I also noticed on these Lawrenceburg bottles that the glass has a slight greenish tint to it. Are all the Lawrenceburg VW's like that, or just some years?

Lawrenceburgs are in green glass Gus. The 20 y/o is Boone whiskey and is rye based. It is very rare to still see these.

Not ALL though. I have a 20 L'burg that wasn't green and same with a few Lot B L'burgs. IIRC I emailed Julian a long time ago and his response was something about the glass change right at the end of his time in Lawrenceburg.

I picked up some EWSB 2000 at my regular store today for $27.99. Sure beats the price ( $34.99 ) that was in the store I stopped at a few days ago. By the way, the 2 stores are less than 2 miles apart and in the same county.

I was kicking myself a little, but one sip of the PVW 15, and that went away fast. It really is an amazing pour.

Still a little expensive IMO, but way more tolerable than the first place. Did you like it?

On my way home from the dermatologist, I stopped in a store that I was in just before Christmas to find single bottles of WLW2010, GTS2010, and PVW15 all at the state minimum price. None of these were there one month ago. The store manager said "just got these in, I've been ordering them for months". What is up with liquor control in MI?

He did have the new KC SB. My feeling was for $10 more I'd take home a VWSR Lot B.

I did take home those three lone soldiers described above along with 2 six packs of Bell's Sparkling Ale. Even though it's over a year old, it is a strong ale, and it does keep well (the store manager knocked a dollar off the purchase price). What amazed me was the store manager gets his clerk to carry my purchases out to my car.

A good report from the doc (after the next visit I'll be on the year plan), 3 three excellent bottles for the bunker, and 12 bottles of my favorite bottled micro-brew, all in all a good day.

So am I to assume this is the first Knob Creek Single Barrel sighting on this forum? Everything else I've read on here says no one has run across it yet and it supposed to hit the shelves early february.

Joe, I thought I remembered reading that only the very first year of the Pappy 20 was rye-based, or am I mistaken? How many years did they put the rye-based PVW20 in green glass at Lawrenceburg, does anyone know?

I believe it was spotted on the shelf in KY and was also left behind.
