Decided to stop waiting for CT to come through on some Pappy. Made many phone calls and then took a 500+ mile trip yesterday.

11 PVW 15

3 PVW 20

3 Stagg

3 Saz 18

HW Rendezvous

PHC 10

Julio's Jefferson 18

Went with 2 buddies. One who took 4 of these PVW 15, one PVW 20, and one Saz 18 .. Great trip. Stopped in Philly for a cheese steak, NYC for a slice. Came home with a smile at 5 am.

much thanks to the fellow SBer who helped with some info that made this trip come together!

I went back to the store where I got the 131.8 proof Stagg, where I thought I had gotten the last bottle, and they had 3 more GTS on the shelf! And these were the 141.4 proof! He claims to have a whole case... along with a case of THH, WLW and ER17

Photo please - want to see what 18 Pappy's looks like on someone's kitchen table.

Couldn't help but throw this one back up again. I need to take another round of pictures, but at this point, I need a bigger table...

I finally broke down and bought a bottle of Maker's 46. I haven't been able to find any place around here that has it so I could taste it before spending money on a bottle. I'm glad I bought it. This is pretty good, IMO.

Isn't this an old picture from "show us your stash"? Looks familiar

That is an old one. Couldn't help but repost after you asked for one. The VW collection has since grown by quite a bit.

I bought my first Van Winkle this evening - the Lot B. Opened it right away, and it's my favorite so far. To me, the nose isn't as sour as Knob Creek (my former "house" bourbon). It's more brown sugar, vanilla and spice. And there's something in the finish that I can't quite describe -- flavor wave 2 of 3 -- that reminds me of bacon. Think I'm in love.

Does rye make bourbon dry, and does Lot B have a lower rye content?

Congrats Marna on your first Van Winkle! It's all downhill from here.

Lot B and all other Van Winkles are wheat based bourbons. Rye makes bourbon spicy and the aroma fruity. Think rye bread vs. wheat bread.

Was traveling this weekend and managed to pick up:

1 PVW 15

1 Vintage 21 Rye

1 Vintage 23 Rye

I'm really liking the Vintage 21 rye.

My dad called me today and said he got me 2 PVW 15 and 1 PVW20. That is likely all he will be able to get me this spring but nice to get a few more from a city I wouldnt normally be able to get any from.

Good prices, nice grabs.

There are only two of the 1989's per case of 12 bottles, so they are very rare. Good luck!

Manage to snag the last two, and probably only two bottles of PVW 15 in town. I'd like to give thanks to the unknown Iowan who declined to pick this up, I really appreciate it whoever you are. I our you a couple of pours for this opportunity.

Also got two ORVW 10/107.

I eyed the Experimental bottles, but those might be for another day.
