mrviognier
Was in Dallas on business and stopped at a liquor store before I started my long trip back home and picked up two 1.75's of Weller 12 for $36 each. Picked up a couple Ritten BIB as well. Would have loved to fill my truck up with other stuff but too nervous about driving through 5 states...There's nothing illegal about purchasing liquor and driving it across state lines, is there? As long as the bottles remain unopened and your buying for personal consumption, you're perfectly fine.

As long as the bottles remain unopened and your buying for personal consumption, you're perfectly fine.It depends entirely on the laws that each state have established. For example, I believe that here in VA, under the state laws, you are permitted to bring in two liters of liquor purchased out of state, but more than that is a violation of our liquor laws. VA is interested in getting its state liquor excise tax, so they don't want you buying your bourbon in a neighboring state or DC.
jcg9779
I finally bought some VWFRR. Well, actually Joe picked these up for me a while back, but I finally was able to get them from him...thanks Joe!
jburlowski
I was about to pick up a bottle of the new Jeff rye; but went with a couple of bottles of Bowman barrel-proof rye (for the bunker) instead.I suspect that, before long, I'll be going back for the Jeff. MissinER101
The poor orphans had been sitting on the shelf at my favorite spot so I brought them home....1 Thomas H Handy and 1 Sazerac. As I was paying I spotted a van Winkle Lot B on the bottom shelf behind the register and asked about it, the manager said he had put it back for someone who never came to get it and I could have it if I wanted.....Well DUH! First time with this one and I'm liking it ... of course, I was in a kind of bourbon desert down here, but ... I guess anything tastes good at the shore. SMOWK
Uhh ... ohh. This is really easy Jack, just don't open any of them then you won't want anymore.Isn't that the truth!? Took 8 bottles of whiskey with me down to OBX last week with a bunch of people that don't drink whiskey (yay for me). The only thing that anybody liked was the VWFRR.On topic: picked up a WTRye and OWA for no apparent reason.

peb
Yesterday I picked up a bottle of Vintage 17. The current bottling is wheated bourbon right? Is it any good? How does it compare to other wheats? I plan on opening it soon, but I really need to finish up a couple bottles to make room.

The store owner new it was old and held it for someone who'd ask for it.I went into an old store in the New Center area of Detroit hunting for bourbon when I was asked what I was looking for my usual saying was anything old with Old Fitzgerald on it. He said I have a bottle for you. He reached behind some other bottles and pulled out a bottle of OF BiB from about 1982. It had a price of $12.95 on it, he said it yours for ten bucks. You never saw money leave my hand so quickly. Asked how he came upon this he said it was in the store when I purchased the store. He also said that there was a ton of lower shelf bourbon that he sold cheaply to college students.

BFerguson
No bottles today, but did pick up a second set of Riedel Ouverture Bourbon glasses. My current set are the preferred go to glasses any given night. Besides, there really was nothing of interest on the shelf that was a "must have", or even a "that be good to have a extra of". A good day nonetheless........B
